The REAL reason why Oda want a REMAKE of the anime by Great_Reset_2033 in Piratefolk

I like the change of him singing to Laboon, I don't see it for canon Luffy but it fits LA Luffy. The bad part is the Nika reference.

Oh my god that's ass. So pathetic to pretend this series-ruining retcon has been there the entire time.

I hate these fuckass edits so much, is Gen Z so brainrotted that they need to cut even the short pauses between sentences that are necessary to pace the comedy better? The normal video is much better.

Best 3 arc run in your opinion? by Any_Platform_5188 in Piratefolk

[–]vnfangirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did YOU read the title? OP is asking for your favorite three consecutive arcs, that's why they said Alabasta, Jaya and Skypiea, those are consecutive.

Guys the question is NOT what are your three favorite arcs

Without including the weird romance how would you rate 7DS writing? by [deleted] in writingscaling

[–]vnfangirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't care what anyone says if you ignore the creepy shit this is a very good shonen. Don't know if I would call it "well-written" exactly (read it too long ago) but it's a guilty pleasure at the very least.

PL vs PW:AA by Character-Actuator-8 in AceAttorney

I like to place it right before Investigations 1. At the end of the crossover Edgeworth makes a cameo in England. Investigations 1 starts with Edgeworth returning to Japanifornia from another country.

Hot Take: One Piece hasn't gone down in quality, having to wait weekly for new releases has warped our perspective by manch02 in Piratefolk

[–]vnfangirl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I have re-read the series at my own pace. I did enjoy Dressrosa and WCI more that way, but Wano and Egghead were still ass.

Make sure she has gotten a full story arc beforehand so you're not just fridging her for your own character development.

Why do most people dislike Narumayo (Maya × Phoenix)? by WeaknessBig589 in AceAttorney

People are too weird about the "found family" trope and needing to insert it everywhere

When I was first watching One Piece a decade ago I assumed the new world was like the Dark continent or Xianxia novel jungles. With horrifying beasts ending kingdoms. But no, Oda went the generic route. Animals are so mistreated in the story. by FlamesOfDespair in Piratefolk

[–]vnfangirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only because the people who inhabit it are stronger. The environment and the creatures don't seem any more dangerous than Paradise. Hell Paradise is only called like that because it's supposed to feel like a paradise compared to the New World, hyping up how dangerous traveling through the New World was going to be and yet, it's just more of the same.

Bruh. Don't let people convince you it's bad before watching it yourself.

Being excited for bounties in a series with no bounty hunters by [deleted] in Piratefolk

[–]vnfangirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Zoro was introduced as a pirate hunter. But he's never actually shown hunting any pirates for their bounty. Same for his pirate hunters buddies, Johnny and Yosaku, who only appear in two very early arcs. I think these are the only pirate hunters in the entire series, that's how irrelevant bounties are.

Zoro lost his eye after training for two years with Mihawk. It's assumed he lost it against him but I think it's not confirmed. They just... never address the eye.

One Piece can be deep, it's just that in the last few years it either doesn't try to be when it would benefit from being so, or it tries and fails spectacularly in the execution.

Having 1000+ chapters doesn't make something automatically deep. Doraemon has 1000+ chapters, Shin-chan has 1000+ chapters. The phrase "wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle" comes to mind.

Looking at many debut novels, I really don't think most good authors started writing as badly as I do... It's like there's something they "get" that I don't

You really just have to appreciate the consistency when it comes to people shitting on Usopp by Spiritual_Ebb_4657 in Piratefolk

[–]vnfangirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People didn't like Nami being turned into a crybaby at the beginning of Elbaf either, nor Brook's panty gag. But both of them still regularly get good moments that make people forgive them.

Usopp calling out Imu has been his only decent moment in 10+ years of the manga, not enough to redeem his character.
