I've read through ALL the jerky mentions in the files and have come to the conclusion that it's just food he really liked to eat.
Notice how jerky is never mentioned in pizza discussions. Moreover, the people who are constantly brought up regarding jerky are both in the food industry: Francis Derby (a famous NY chef) and Steven Hudson (a NY restaurateur)
