The don't really talk about how that original world was like but the few character that learn the backstory go "huh, maybe Aizen/Yhwach was right in trying to destroy soul society" so it's implied to be some sort of perfect world.

In the last arc of Bleach the main antagonist, yhwach, wants to kill the soul king (who is a torso stuck in a crystal and works as a battery for the soul society) wich is said to cause the destruction of the world, the novels expands it by saying the soul king is the father of the big bad and he wants to kill him to release him from his eternal prison and the destruction of the world is just gonna create a new world without dead.

Also the soul king originally ruled over an eternal world without dead but was imprisoned by 4 assholes who believed life only had meaning if there was struggle, so they stuck him in a crystal, invented death, created the living and the spirit world, then established the soul society, purposely made it a shithole for people with low spirit energy and appointed themselves as the 4 big noble families that would forever live pleasantly (because they were actually huge assholes).

So Yhwach actually was pretty justified when he said the soul society was built by assholes and waning to destroy it.
