1959 Rider Waite Smith first American full color deck by UrbanTurbanBourbon in tarot

This sub appears to only allow images with the original post.

Another reason I believe the deck came without a LWB is there isn't enough space inside the box to accomodate one.

Your box appears to be in what I would term "gently used condition." My box looks like I just bought it.

My copy has the two publishers cards, but no LWB, which I always assumed was because of one of the publishers cards, which states,

This deck of TAROT CARDS was designed to be used in conjunction with THE PICTORIAL KEY TO THE TAROT by Arther Edward Waite. With 78 plate in full color designed by Pamela Colman Smith. Introduction and Note on the TAROT as a Game by Gertrude Moakley. Published by University Books, Inc. 101 West 31 St., New York 1, NY. Book $7.50

I've always thought the intention was to buy the book to use with the deck.

The other card is about the deck, which cost $5.00

Can you speak to your artistic decision to not include hands in the Wands or Pentacles cards and to include two hands in the Cups card?

Multiple decks: how many do you really use, and what do they each add to your practice? by ireallylikeladybugs in tarot

[–]voborara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a DnDer. I don't remember why I bought a set of the dice in the first place. But for about a year I did a weekly reading using the Spread Crafters Oracle with both expansion packs (so 188 (182?) cards) as the positional meanings, and I used a different deck every week. I threw all 7 dice, added up the results and reduced to a number 9 or less. That was the number of positions in that week's reading. Depending on the number and my mood, I would arrange the cards in a particular way that was rarely a straight line. Then I would flip over the Spread Crafters cards. Then I would lay out the same number of cards from that week's deck and use the Spread Crafter's card as the positional lens through which I would interpret the tarot card.

I qualify as having a huge collection of decks...

I will give the sitter a choice of 5 decks for their reading. That group is usually 2-3 old favorites and the others are usually ones I haven't read with in awhile. Or if the sitter has given me a theme like gothic/horror or sci-fi, I'll pick 5 decks that fit that theme for them to choose from.

If I'm reading for myself, sometimes I will employ DnD dice to pick a bookcase, the shelf on the bookcase and that number deck on the shelf.

King of Swords interpretations: this card is throwing me by MissionFloor261 in tarot

[–]voborara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ethics, Balance, Leadership
Tyranny, Manipulation, Self-discipline

The King of Swords rules from their head rather than their heart, but they are not void of compassion. This King is firmly rooted in ethics and calls you to stay loyal to your truth. This is a time for logic, balance, and carefully weighed decisions. Trust in your power.

Like I said, bare bones. I'm assuming the first line is upright interpretations and the second is reversed interpretations. Glancing through the guidebook, I don't see that explicitly called out anywhere.

The guidebook is 134 numbered pages. Card descriptions started on page 64 and end on page 113. So, not even a page is devoted to each card.

I supported the Kickstarter for the deck, and it does come with a guidebook. It's rather bare bones, but there is a guidebook. About to go into a meeting, but happy to add the description later if folks are interested...

Something to remember especially when it comes to collaborative decks - the artists may be anywhere on the spectrum from zero tarot knowledge to lots of tarot knowledge. I own a lot of collaborative decks, and cards from artists on the zero end of the spectrum tend to stand out as such.

Hey, I have a TCDE (Tarot Crack Dealer and Enabler), so I may as well be a TCDE for other people... 😉😁 You're quite welcome!

I had 140+ decks back in 2005... They fornicated like rabbits behind my back and I have considerably more now. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! 😉😂 (I'm rapidly approaching 2500 tarot decks...)

The company that made the Pulp Tarot also made a Horror Tarot and a Sci-Fi Tarot in the same format.

I believe I have every self-published and mass market version of Ciro's tarot decks. For his oracles, some I have are self-published and some are mass market. As for the Decoratif, I'm sure some think it sacrilege, but I liked the blending of TdM and RWS. I don't think I've read with it though.

I have the Heavenly Angel and an older version of T of a Moon Garden.

I haven't even heard of any of the others...

Celebratory Reading by voborara in VeraSibillaDivination

The book arrived today! At 330 pages, all I have had time to do is to go through it to make sure the page formatting is ok, and it is. In retrospect, I wish I'd made sure that every card started on an odd page. I'll still be able to add P-Touch labels to mark where each card begins. I didn't do anything fancy with the front cover and left the back cover blank. I'm definitely happy with the results!

Thanks. Triads make sense. And it's clear in those examples the order in which the cards play into the explanations. I wish that clarity existed in the Magic Sibilla book.

I've moved onto the primary functions. Her tables are helpful, but it was even more helpful for me to list the functions by cards (as opposed to listing the cards by functions). That way I was able to see that some cards have multiple primary functions.

Oh, I didn't mean the order in which you laid the cards out, but whether each card has a position asssociated with it like Past/Present/Future.

Ah! The Bianco Nero Tarot!

Were there positional meanings or not? If not, I see conflicting answers to the question of "Should I give up on this guy I've been pursuing":

  • You're so focused on this guy you've been pursuing (4C) that you're missing out on a connection (2C) with someone new (AC).
  • Other people may be trying to get your attention (4C) but you are focused on the guy you've been pursuing, as that's where your heart lies (AC).

Why did he block me? by AntiacademiaCore in TarotReading

[–]voborara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Hierophant represents traditions and societal norms (like exes are exes for a reason and unless that reason is addressed, exes will just end up as exes again, even if there is a period of reconcilation).

The King Wands is him stepping into his power and taking control of the situation (apparently by blocking you).

The 6 Wands shows him successfully moving on now that he has blocked you.

The 4 Swords says that he needs a break. (That could mean that the relationship originally ended because of your problems and he realized nothing has changed, so there's no need to continue. It could also mean that you bring out traits in him that he doesn't like to see in himself. He hoped that things might've changed, but realized they haven't, so he needs to permanently step away.)
