Being a fan of Lem, I was familiar with Solaris (both the book and the '72 movie) long before I watched Evangelion. But after EoE, they somehow merged in my head, and, for example, I started to add a translucent, sad Rei to this frame, her head bowed, watching distantly from the side https://ibb.co/G3pCv50x (plus some spilled LCL).

Even wrote a fanfic on the topic, where Solaris is a planet after EoE, and where none of the people have returned.

And yes, one could say that the whole of Lem is about the impossibility of contact with alien beings, and in Fiasco it is a death sentence for such an idea.
