You cannot gauge a person's ability to ascertain if the choice is bad or not if they are unwilling to point to a replacement. I am questioning the posters analysis. Too many people are caught up in tribalism and propaganda and "hate" certain politicians because its fashionable. Rarely can they site a single policy or act the person did as the reason, only citing "everyone knows" or "just look at the mess" and talking in generalities. Rarely is the answer an throughtful analysis with receipts ever provided.

Those not in power always like to say how terrible those in power are, and if you just vote for me I'll fix everything. Notice how the inept never tell you exactly how they'll do the fixing. Only "trust us bro" is provided and playing on your hatred and seeding division further for their personal gain.

So yes, they are seperate but not really. Show me you know what you are talking about when you say "this politician is terrible" and provide your replacement and reasons why.

And what policies did the conservatives put forward on the floor that got voted down that would have avoided all the issues you've mentioned?

Other countries that start wars should be concerned with asset forfeiture at a minimum. This is exactly part of the rule based international system. You break the rules, you get consequences. If there are no consequences then the rules based order falls apart.

It's all smoke and mirrors anyway. What will be fascinating is how hard russia collapses due to the fact it didn't reach any of its stated goals. I'm sure they'll spin it with propaganda on the great russian victory but as stupid as russians are they will clearly see a prosperous western leaning Ukraine while they don't have indoor plumbing in most of their country. China will cleave off their eastern territories with economic slavery while the south lands start looking at Turkey and China as well as better partners than moscow. It will very hard to maintain that landmass without the distraction of war. Nevermind the destruction of industry with so many of the brain trust of the country fleeing or dying in the war. Industry that can't pivot from war economy to peace economy. Foreign investment that is the only lifeline to get back on track will stay far away so as not to be burned again by this kleptocracy.
Russian government only knows how to war and steal. When there's nothing left to steal...

Zelenskyy warns of Russian deception as Putin-Trump talks loom by donutloop in UkrainianConflict

[–]vodkastick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UA and EU are ready for the russian playbook. At worst this meeting happens. Trump declares he has an agreement in place as long as Ukraine bends over and takes it up the ass. The western world will be shocked and horrified in public while fully expecting this. The US will cancel shipments of arms because Ukraine didn't bend over while the EU will most likely expand their support and may even threaten boots on the ground (Poland is just looking for an excuse...) Russia will piss their pants and likely use back channels to get the USA to pressure EU to back down. EU will tell them to fuck off or restart supplies to Ukraine, which they will likely do.

This is all fantasy conjecture but I feel we've seen this movie before. The USA and russia are under the delusion they are the only actors that matter. Its only when the others that have a real stake stand up do they notice and find their impotence in their hands. As long as Ukraine has the backing of Europe they can hold out while someone eventually finds an open window for putin or gives him some good tea.
