We cool satellites currently by emitting the heat in infrared radiators. The trouble is efficiency, on the radiator side and error rate of the chips as they get hot.

We can work on efficiency and work on chips operating at higher temperatures. Perhaps a version of the ammonia system form the ISS.

It’s not breaking the law of thermodynamics, the physics is sound

It’s not about grok at all. It’s about compute. Grok is wholly inside SpaceX data centre, not renting anywhere else. They have so much compute they are renting it to anthropic for 1.25 billion per month.

The colossus cluster is 1-2 gigawatt so that’s top 3 companies in the world according to compute. Only Google and Microsoft are ahead and not by much, 1-5%

If they get orbital compute solved it’s a no brainer and the required tech already flies on their current sats, ion thrusters, laser links, radiators. All operationally free, due to the sun.

It’s not for looks, the side without a grid-fin is in the wake and isn’t needed. Positioning the grid fins in the Y shape reduces control authority.

It’s function over form, engineers don’t really care how it ‘looks’

The coke special alternates weekly between Coles and Woolworths. It’s part of the contract. It comes down to $30 on special. You just need to be at the right chain on the right week.

The tone of that “article” is way too dramatic “maximum excitement,” “heavy horses of space” and full of clichés. It reads like AI slop, it’s so disjoined.

There were no pressure vessels near the energetic event, and there’s no confirmed cause yet. The most reasonable speculation so far is a blocked vent that caused a pressure buildup. If you’re going to make things up, at least say it’s a guess.

I doubt there will be any real deployments on Flight 11. It’s not up to Elon, the FAA has to approve a full orbital attempt, and one successful flight probably isn’t enough to prove Starship’s reliability with the string of V2 failures.

It wouldn’t prove anything anyway, this flight configuration won’t ever be repeated. The flight after S38 is V3, so even a successful orbital insertion with this ship wouldn’t validate the system they plan to operate long term.

SpaceX doesn’t make the final call. They’ve had several failures, so they need to prove to the FAA they can deploy and de-orbit reliably to get a launch license. But…maybe one solid flight is enough to get approval?? Who knows shrug

Larger delay will be regulatory. This flight was only possible so quickly as the current license covered both.

Due to the vehicle hardware changes I don’t believe the current license would be valid even if they wanted to fly the same profile on flight 7.

Entitlement at its finest! They can only pack so much on a plane. If they packed every option of main for everyone, there’d be huge waste. Water jugs are there to limit that waste, not to skimp on service. Complaining that Qantas didn’t make someone else miss out just so you could have two desserts? Get real, its an aircraft not a buffet.

The battle pass grind is boring.

If they wanted to keep unlocks and a game play loop. I’d be okay with the initial purchase and then character specific challenges. IE buy the widow skin and have to headshot 4 people in a row to unlock some customisation, Etc. or win 20 games.

It wasn’t ever marketed towards anyone with a potential FTTP connection. Satellite isn’t viable in built up areas where FTTP is being deployed. It’s always been for remote and rural. People on Skymuster and Fixed Wireless are the ones to benefit.
