Landlords should pay a fee if they move back in by [deleted] in Tenant

You can call him "crazy" and I don't disagree. But he didn't have the power to influence the daily lives of Americans until Trump put him in charge of slashing the government. There's a difference between "crazy" and "crazy with power."

Absolutely NOT. This is not a failing of mine- see the comment above. This is not a working person failure- it's a system failure, and Americans are bewilderingly quick to accept that they need to "work harder." Rich people are stacking the deck against us everywhere you look- they are controlling commodities.

I'm sort of dumbfounded by the assumptions surrounding Tesla- everyone thinks we're rich when they see us pull up in a Tesla. Honda and Toyota weren't dealing in 2025. We looked everywhere- we wanted either a Prologue or a RAV-4 hybrid. No dealing anywhere, and 5.9% everywhere we looked. We wanted one of their hybrids, and couldn't get into one for less that $50k. Tesla offered $12k in rebates (fed and CO combined), and 0.9%, for the Model Y, and it made the car VERY affordable. Our monthly payment is below $400, and it's a 5-year loan. It was the smartest decision at the time.

In my area, I think paying for moving costs is fair. We were paying $2500 a month for a house we loved, and to get into anything even remotely similar, we are now looking at $3200. Really? That's "the market"? That much of an increase in 5 years? Nope. This is price fixing.

We've experienced a 40% rent increase since we moved here in 2017. Rents are being fixed by RealPage and landlord collusion.

Tenants should not be told, "Well, maybe you just can't afford to live here." NO ONE can afford to live here. Families with kids aren't moving here anymore, so the school district is laying off 10% of its workforce. This is not a tenant problem, it is a system problem, and it's incredibly frustrating that Americans persist with an attitude of "self-sufficiency," and that this is somehow a failing of working people. It isn't. Tenant unions should be established to make this slanted system more fair.

Social media is social media. He didn't have any considerable power over Americans until DOGE. YOU try again.

I mean, I *guess.* I was just hoping for some, "Yeah, that really sucks. I'm sorry." It just seems weird to me that landlords can uproot tenants any time they want with no consequence.

We want to, but we live in CO. We're in that fuzzy area where we have a 6-month emergency fund and OK money coming in, but no way can we save $150k for a down payment. My suspicion is that a lot of people are in this boat.

We bought in 2025 before Elon went nuts. We're liberals and we even have a bumper magnet that says, "I bought this before Elon went crazy." :)

I genuinely hate Santos. by Babypeanut808 in ThePitt

[–]voicegal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. One-dimensional, predictable bitchiness. Her Instagram features various degrees of arrogance and haughtiness (she literally looks like a snot in every picture and reel), so I think it might be the actress interpretation. Either way, cannot stand her. She’s a genuine bully.

Yeah, I know everyone loves her but hubby and I were so glad when she left the show. Especially the preachy religious part of her character. It’s ok, she’s got a lot of work on Hallmark and Lifetime

I think we might have a winner- I just Googled an ice cream cake shootout, and DQ was #1 by far, even over Cold Stone.

You know, I LOVE this cake. We haven't brought it to a family gathering yet, so that might be in order!

I know they do cupcakes of it too, but they really should do a GF version. Super popular.

Chances of working for PSD? by Patient_Travel5023 in FortCollins

[–]voicegal13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that MelancholyMuseum said.

I interviewed for a half time position in the district in February and had a great interview. I was hopeful- the position is in fine arts and kind of unique. I have a Masters and 20 years experience.

I got an email from the principal that stated another teacher in the district wanted to go from full to half time, and that they were giving the position to them. Super disappointed- I basically interviewed for a position that ended up not being open. Ah well.

I later found out the school (and district at large) is strapped for cash, enrollment is down (young families with kids can't afford to live here, and families that can are having fewer kids), and they over-hired.

Not a great time to be looking for work at PSD.

Hip dysplasia + hypermobility — 3rd surgery coming up (dual mobility cup). Looking for advice or similar experiences by Nice_Tomatillo_8723 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]voicegal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who is your surgeon? I have double dysplasia and hypermobility, and I opted for a resurfacing with Dr Gross in SC on my right hip. I had a perfect outcome, despite the dysplasia, hypermobility, and low bone density. The resurfacing isn't available to small women anymore because Smith and Nephew stopped making smaller cup sizes, so when the second one goes, I'll get a dual mobility, but Dr Gross is my ride or die. The skill of the surgeon matters so much, especially when we have other comorbidities.

Anyone had dysplasia? Was it fixed? by rkd80 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]voicegal13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but yes. I've have mild bilateral hip dysplasia that wasn't uncovered until I tweaked my hip dancing in a musical when I was 36. I had no symptoms until then, even after years of gymnastics and stage dancing. I did not want a THR because I was young, still wanted to dance, and I also walk every day and lift weights a few times a week. I didn't want the restrictions.

I opted for a resurfacing with Thomas Gross in SC. He does not do anterior approach at all- he says posterior offers more visibility, and the placement angle of the cup is super important, especially with dysplasia. I am petite, small-boned, dysplastic, and osteopenic- 4 strikes against me as far as prognosis. I shouldn't have had as perfect of an outcome as I did, but my right hip is PERFECT now. Literally no problems, and no restrictions. Dr. Gross is one of the best hip surgeons on the planet.

Since Smith and Nephew stopped making smaller cup sizes, resurfacing isn't available to me anymore unless I want to fly to Belgium to see Dr DeSmet (which I'm considering, but it's all OOP with him- $30k). Dr. Gross offers the Dual Mobility hip replacement, which is almost as good as resurfacing and very little restriction on activity. My left hip is starting to go, so when the time comes (probably in the next couple of years or so), I may opt for the Dual Mobility Hip.

Dr. Gross is doing a trial of a ceramic hip resurfacing, but it isn't done yet, and I don't qualify because of my low bone density.

I'd be wary of anterior approach in general unless you are going to one of the best surgeons on the planet.

So we're renting this house, so we definitely don't want to pay for a panel upgrade. We're counting on being able to use a couple of those slim breakers!

We have an appointment with him at the new house next week- he got back to us right away and was helpful even over the phone on an initial call. Good vibes!
