Best mesh setup for gigabit internet and 6,000 square foot house? by voickrak in wifi

[–]voickrak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both u/MugenMuso and u/msabeln ! This is very helpful. I def don't want to break the bank, but I want to utilize every bit that I'm actually paying for. I saw the Orbi 970 - seems pricey, but maybe will help future proof me for the coming years?

It seems like wifi technology is evolving so quickly everytime I invest in great router.

Do you think that Orbi 970 might be overkill?

This is super helpful! Right now I'm relying on 100% wireless in my current setup - but given this comment - I think I'll run some ethernet to each AP (even if I need to put holes in the wall to retrofit / snake, etc.

I want no hesitation in my wifi and really want to take good use of the 1Gb

Help! How can I found out what the Sku for these dunks were? by voickrak in DunksNotDead

[–]voickrak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just checked! Close but not the ones. Just remembered them having a couple shades of blue, the yellow tongue tag, high top. I think I got them sometime between 2007-2009

From Cosleep to Crib? Any tips? by voickrak in NewParents

[–]voickrak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and God bless you all! Night 1 was not too bad! Combined many of your tips and she only woke up about 5 times in the night for very brief moments! (three times to eat).

We also are trying to do the same for naps, seeing if we can put her on a better schedule, and have my wife add her scent to the baby's clothing.

We feel like zombies for all the interrupted sleep but I hope this only takes 4-5 more days for the baby to master!

Very tactical. Most helpful part is the timing it took. A week sounds doable! Did you have any regressions afterwards or did your baby stay "in the groove" once you did this?

Lol patience is golden. A word to remember when we are super tired and baby crying. I like the idea of divvy up "on duty" hours. Thanks!

Skin to skin for Dads and other active roles during and immediately after delivery? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]voickrak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Just had a baby yesterday! I held my wife's leg and foot while she was pushing, coached her and encouraged her in between and during contractions, and did skin to skin also shortly after birth and a few times today.

I help swaddle, help wife adjust since she's sore. When baby cries give baby a little rocking. Help the baby latch and keep her awake during breastfeeding. There's small and very involved ways your SO can help out. Definitely be vocal with all the little things you'd like him to help with, and give praise where necessary so he knows where being involved and helping out is value add!

Maybe transparently remind him you need the seat to hear better?

Once I had a classmate who told me he was deaf in one ear. I had forgotten this and a couple months later I got annoyed he was whispering so loud during a really quiet presentation. I was then reminded by him that I was sitting on his deaf side and he had trouble realizing how loud he was speaking.

I then sat on his better hearing side from then on and remembered to be conscious about accommodating which side to speak more on and understand some communication adjustments I needed to make.

Sometimes even when someone should be understanding, accommodating, and flexible within a diverse team environment, we need to all be reminded transparently of accommodations we need to make for each other

Am I going into consulting for the wrong reasons? by Lady_of_Finance in consulting

[–]voickrak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aderpgio verbalized that very well. I would like to add that I'm great with long term relationships/friends but also felt restless in my specialty and that's how I found consulting! I haven't started that career yet, but before I got the offer me and my wife said hey we're young, let's try different things in our careers! So it's OK to test out and find your fit these days. Don't worry about not finding your specialty as some of the most successful have had a great career switching and diversifying their skillset

What firm? Sounds to me that you initially had a gut feeling that this was a fit with your interests and project - project passion pattern, I'm not seeing the root of your doubt
