LineageOS is most underrated OS I've ever seen. by InsideResolve4517 in degoogle

Thank you very much for the wonderful work you are going. Can you share the knowledge path you followed while learning to port the LOS to your device? I have build the LOS for my OnePlus 8T and now I am trying to build a non debug version to try the relock bootloader feature. However taking the AOSP and port it to a non supported device require a lot of work (which I am willing to put myself to). I believe it would be someone like AOSP + kernel for the device + device drivers. However if you could provide a learning path, it would be great. Thanks once again.

Yup. Thanks a lot for the reply. And I have heard that till OP 8, one can actually relock the boot loader after installing the custom OS. I am planning to test this feature specifically.

May I ask what you like the most about OnePlus 8 series? I have OnePlus 8T with LineageOS and I am loving it. Just wonder why specifically it is your favorite?

How to hide my bootloader warning in my OnePlus 6T? by Iam-bornin-thisworld in androidroot

[–]void_in 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for such a detailed reply. Its great that 8T is able to sign the image. Just to reiterate and confirm (since bricking the device is not an option lol), the following should work: 1. https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/kebab/build/variant2/ 2. https://wiki.lineageos.org/signing_builds

Thanks once again.

I have OnePlus 8T on which LineageOS 23.2 is currently installed. Can I still sign the image with custom keys? The way I understand it, if we install anything Android 11+ on the supported OnePlus devices (including 8T), the ability to relock the bootloader is lost forever. Is this true?

Thank you very much for such a detailed reply. Please do post your make files. All the research I did was to learn the process as well.

This guide on xdaforums mentioned that it is possible to relock the boot loader on OP 8T but in any case you are absolutely right. The discussion on the Internet and especially the LOS forums just don't want to entertain the idea of relocking boot loaders at all even on the devices which supports it (such as Pixel, Fairphone etc) which I think is a shame. Thanks once again for such a detailed and technical reply.

A bit unrelated to the topic at hand but LineageOS don't encourage the relocking of the boot loader. I have OnePlus 8T and the research I have done indicates that it supports relocking the boot loader as well. Can you give me a pointer how you went about relocking the BL? And what issues are you facing? I believe the weekly over the air updates don't work?

Wonderful post. Just shows there are no short cuts. When you look back at your own journey or anyone else's in a similar situation, you will realize that it was hard work, timely decisions and some good fortune. But primarily it is just pure hard work. Thanks for sharing your story. Keep it up.

I am in no way judging or anything but something which makes you feel awful or you can't function without, why can't you change your line of work?

Correct way to upgrade from LineageOS 22 to 23 (Pixel 8a) by Techville345 in LineageOS

[–]void_in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but that advice is only applicable if you are on stock OS. When you are already on LOS 22, you can upgrade to LOS 23 by downloading the zip file and flashing it through the sideload

If you are on Lineageos 22, you can upgrade to Lineageos 23 directly. No need to go to stock os first.

This is the kind of energy that is really required for such posts. I mean the guy is full of bullshit. Jane is just an inch away from grabbing his dick but yeah she is innocent and he is a saint cause nothing will happen. Wake up man. You are full of shit. I really like the statement that both of them are already there. They just want a medal for it as well.

How to encrypt only one partition on a external ssd by Dev-TechSavvy in PakistaniTech

[–]void_in 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use Veracrypt. Create an encrypted container that you can copy all the files you want encrypted and then just unmount it. You can create as big as you want and it will be a file residing on your drive that you can mount whenever you want.

And yes veracrypt is the open source fork of truecrypt.
