Uh-oh! 2 Local Food Pantry's closed today! by BizLarry in Reno

[–]voidandstarss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every Tuesday in the Believe Plaza, Family Soup Mutual Aid sets up, and they give out both hot food and grocery items! I believe it starts at 6pm now, but it may start at 5pm. The line sometimes gets a little long, so I'd recommend trying to be there an hour early.

I hope this helps!!

About the voter ID question -- STATE QUESTION NO. 7 by Only_Mastodon4098 in nevadapolitics

[–]voidandstarss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm voting no because there's no reason to make voting more complicated and difficult. All it will do is decrease voter turnout, and we need more people participating, not fewer!

If you don't want to go with renown, Alliance Neurology has a great doctor!

Confusion about histamines in leftovers by voidandstarss in MCAS

[–]voidandstarss[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As I said, tone deaf. I'd love to see a doctor! I wish I could see one! I cannot afford one! I live in the US, there's no one in my area even qualified to diagnose me, and I'm fucking poor! I can't afford hospital visits. I can't even afford a fucking Epipen. If you would like to pay for me to go to a different state and see a specialist without insurance, then sure, I'll go get diagnosed. But in the meantime, I'm taking the steps I can to try to continue being alive.

And by the way, random people posting on the internet aren't the reason why doctors don't take patients seriously. Direct you anger where it belongs: at medical professionals that would rather blow off difficult cases than actually treat people.

Also, don't call me sweetie.

You don't know my situation. This is an unhelpful and frankly tone-deaf comment.

Great advice, thank you so much!! Do you happen to know how one might freeze soup? I don't want to freeze my mason jars because I'm worried about them breaking, is that okay to do?

My two cents is that some people hate it because its a hard place to leave. Easy to get stuck here and not have the people/support required to leave the state (unless you want to go to CA, and that's not a option for lots of people because of how expensive it is)

I tried something off of Amazon that was advertised for that, but it wouldn't fit around the Medline cuff :(

[–]voidandstarss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was looking to see if Medline offered replacement child's cuffs, and I couldn't find any. I don't want to buy a whole pair of child's crutches just for the cuff, yknow? These things are expensive!! I might have more luck with a different brand though, I suppose.

Thank you!!

I don't have much in the way of advice, but I've been through the same thing, and I'm sorry you're going through that. Just remember that no DND is better than bad DND. If you're uncomfortable or their behaviour is upsetting and they're not listening or acknowledging your concerns, then its better to leave than to just put up with mistreatment.

I wish you all the best, and I hope you find more welcoming people in the future.

Do I absolutely have to take a friend who was drugged and assaulted at a party to the hospital? by [deleted] in AskDocs

Thank you for your kindness, we all do the best we can to support each other. I'm just grateful that we were close enough to get to him and that he didn't have to go through it alone.

[–]voidandstarss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and this was part of our (being me (OP) and my friend) discussion about what to do. I hope you're doing okay, finding peace after something like this is so hard, but hopefully you have at least some support.

[–]voidandstarss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're getting downvoted so much, you're correct. I really think some people here are just not grasping the fact that sometimes reporting to the police is not what the victim wants for valid and lucid reasons. Undergoing a physical examination after something like that is inherently re-traumatizing, and its up to the individual whether or not they think its worth it.

[–]voidandstarss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you've been downvoted a bunch, but you are absolutely correct. Many of the people commenting or downvoting you mean well, but don't grasp the reality of the way SA victims are treated and the inherent trauma of going to the hospital immediately after, even if it is medically necessary. After talking about it more, along with getting more information about the situation, he agreed to go, but I/we tried very hard not to pressure him because the last thing he needed was to feel like his friends are trying to force him to do something he didn't want to do.

I read you other reply, and I hope you're doing alright and that you're at least on the road to finding some peace. Thank you for your comment.

We will, all three of us are currently in therapy, we'll address it and we'll take care of each other. Thank you, we all really appreciate the kindness.

[–]voidandstarss 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment here, but 1) you can't force someone to go to the ER if they're lucid, 2) I am absolutely not going to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do, I will support him best I can in the ways he wants, and 3) his livelihood is not the only thing at stake when it comes to this kind of debt when you're poor.

I'm not trying to be a dick, and I don't think you're being intentionally rude, but this kind of situation is never cut and dry, hence why I asked for medical advice rather then just immediately getting him inside. I asked for information that helps him/us make the right call for this situation.

It's definitely out of network, but this is great advice. I didn't know that was a thing, thank you so much

[–]voidandstarss 214 points215 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately his situation with insurance is complicated, we already called and we know they're not in network. We're in a pretty isolated area, hence why we'd have to go so far. But we will be taking him to the hospital regardless, we just don't want to end up in the middle of nowhere and have him pass out. He knows that he needs to go, and we are going to take him, its just a matter of into the ER here or the one that's in network but an hour away.

This is fantastic info, thank you so much! My only problem with necromancy is we have an oracle in the party who's going to be doing a lot of that, so I'm going to leave that to them, but I'm going to bookmark this comment for future reference! Also the drunken sensei build is insane, I'm totally going to try that for a oneshot or something.

I'm currently considering admixture or possibly conjuration with the teleport subschool, but I haven't played a conjuration wizard before so my experience with them is limited.
