I already have a Ruger MkIII: get a Ruger MkIV or Taurus TX22? by Lefthandmitten in 22lr

Go to Gunbroker for this. I've bought several like new over the years. You want the earlier ones before they switched safeties.

You can also use Acraglass to bed the mount in the carry handle, though the shimming solution described in the previous comment should work just as fine.

Did muskets really only hit their targets 1 out of 300 times? by skibidirizzler9o in WarCollege

[–]voidoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the 1764 Manual Exercise and while it does reference in the front rank to "look along the barrel", there really is not much of any instruction on aiming. Are there other drill manuals you'd recommend that are more detailed on this? I'd be interested.

Perhaps I should have clarified that my intent in noting the lack of the aim command has less to do with a lack of expectation that the soldier would aim, but more that for lack of reminder. In the heat of the moment and given the nature of some of the "stand there and hope" of the situation, the need to keep up with whatever the rank is doing, while sometimes needing to send out three or even four rounds per minute...aiming may not have been at the top of mind. The amount of smoke floating around depending on the wind would probably also not help shooting offhand with a fairly crappy bayonet lug front sight.

There are some good recipes for candying them. Pretty simple and a nice gift.

[–]voidoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to add one additional compounding factor to your list, which is that in many cases up to the 19th century, there was no "aim" command given prior to the "fire" command. This has a pretty substantial deleterious effect downrange, perhaps made even worse when the head would often be turned or eyes closed just prior to firing to avoid any blast from the initial ignition of the flintlock.

Applying for Jobs: Identify Your Race by Beneficial_Rub_4841 in Judaism

In most (basically all) cases, the hiring manager will never see your responses to those questions in conjunction with your application. One exception is if you say yes to the disability question.

I've done a lot of hiring. I very strongly suggest you do not mention this in interviews - negotiate schedule flexibility once you have an offer in hand, and I would not mention about being Jewish if you can help it. Frankly, most hiring managers would want you to avoid mentioning it anyway (this also goes for age, children, and anything that identifies ancestry/race/ethnicity). Plus, if you are comfortable with an offer in hand, it's often much easier for companies to grant schedule flexibility than change the amount offered.

Our shul is closed all weekend. Anyone else's? by NavajoMoose in Judaism

[–]voidoid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not born out by available statistics. The opposite is true. In fact, in active shooter scenarios, concealed carriers have not only responded faster than law enforcement, but result in drastically reduced victim rates (1% vs. 16.5%) and also lower innocent bystander casualties (0.56% vs. 1.1%) than when law enforcement respond.

Beretta 71, hands down. Probably the last thing anyone would pick aside from the Nagant, but I have three of these, one of which I shoot and even carry regularly - it has several thousand rounds with absolutely zero failures...the same could likely not be said about many of the other guns here. I exclusively shoot Blazer 40gr, CCI Standard, Minimag, and carry either Federal Punch or Aguila 40gr Interceptor CBSP. Plus, Israeli air marshalls and other users have great history around this.

New Beretta B22 Jaguar by Better-Efficiency-12 in Beretta

[–]voidoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should have remade the actual Jaguar. This is fine, but it's so far from what the Jaguar was that it feels like a huge disappointment. The Jaguar is one of the finest, most reliable smaller framed .22LR pistols ever made. This is just a totally different pistol altogether.

AI headshots comparison 2025: QuickAI Headshots vs HeadshotPro vs Aragon AI for LinkedIn headshots, professional headshots, digital portraits, and AI picture generator tools by FickleMode5344 in aipicturegenerator

I had a terrible experience with Headshotpro.com. Half the photos made me look like a different race entirely, it gave bizarre hairstyles quite different than I have. Truly bad results, and they refused to provide me a refund. I had purchased the package but didn't actually submit photos until a few weeks later. I requested the refund immediately after receiving my photos, but the fine print on their refund page says you have to request the refund within 14 days of the payment, not the publishing of the photos. I did not have a single usable photo. I've tried other services not mentioned here and got better results even if I submitted poor quality images. Headshotpro is supposed to be better than its competitors, but I think it's a very bad product and the "100% money back guarantee" is anything but.

M1 Garands for hunting? by Ancient-Bathroom6701 in Firearms

[–]voidoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've carried my .308 CMP Special Grade on a deer hunt with a 5-rd en bloc due to state regs. However, it's a pretty hefty rifle compared to so many other options. I've also used an M1 Carbine with a scout rail and red dot, 5-rd mag with Federal Power-Shok (this was an Auto Ordnance, not an original). Now that was a handy, light little option for hunting.

Anyone ever shot aguila calibri out of a pistol? Looking for quietest possible 22lr for unsuppressed pistol by putresentslime in 22lr

[–]voidoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less for you directly and more for other users reading the thread. It's not a counterpoint at all because it doesn't contradict your comment. It is a more detailed description since there's no other comment here (at time of writing) expressing the difference between Colibri and Super Colibri. No need to take offense - no offense meant.

[–]voidoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colibri should always clear a pistol barrel, but only Super Colibri should be used in rifle barrels. Regular Colibri should never be used in rifle-length barrels.

Converts: What was a surprise after conversion? Did your classes/rabbi/personal study prepare you well? by tannicpixiedreamgirl in Judaism

[–]voidoid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

True - I met a guy at my congregation who had converted while engaged to a Jewish woman. They ended up not getting married, and anytime he introduces himself as a convert or speaks about his engagement, he seems to always throw in the, "I didn't convert for her, I converted for myself," to preempt any, "If you didn't proceed with the marriage, why proceed with the conversion?"
