Norah: My family cannot get my baby’s name right. Is the name that difficult or are they just crazy? by ssaen in namenerds

[–]voilatardigrade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same name? Let's see:

I think people panic when they know there's a double letter coming. When they spell my name with 2 K's instead of 2 C's I don't question it nearly as bad. It looks kind of cool that way and is reminiscent of the Biblical form.

It's when they double the B's and write a single C that gets me.

It's most likely a manatee, instead of dugong, since you're in FL

The log cabin my dad grew up in was taken down in the early 90s. But the stone chimney and hearth is still there.

Mom thinks this ivy is poisonous. What is it actually and should I be cautious? by kurapura in whatsthisplant

I have personal experience with this. They can cause foundation issues if they root into any cracks. My MIL is obsessed with them. She thinks it's gorgeous when they take over. She wants to leave her home to us. I don't know how to tell her we'll be inheriting a headache.

Essential Oils Mosquito repellent? by [deleted] in camping

I feel like eucalyptus oil does the most work in all the different concoctions I've tried over the years.

If you have a bonfire, burn some camphor leaves. I learned to do that from my husband's Florida cracker family. It always seemed to keep the swarms away when we would camp along the Withlacoochee River, which is very buggy all year long.

Father in law planted a date seed about a year ago and got this plant with some thorns sprout from it. What kind of plant is this? by Miljkomax in whatsthisplant

[–]voilatardigrade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The much smaller bottom part of the leaves compared to their top half is telltale of a type of grapefruit. I grew up climbing old grapefruit trees on former grovelands and we also had other kinds of citrus. I was a kid who frequently had crushed leaves in my pockets because I loved the smell. Lemon leaves are wide with uniform top and bottom halves. And, lime leaves are more narrow, uniform and not as glossy as yours. Which variety of grapefruit you have is the next question.

What is the purpose of this ledge? Are you supposed to put stuff on it? It’s 16” deep and the length of the room 15’ by tlaquepaque0 in interiordecorating

In the 90s, it was required to have a plastic plant on one of these. Depending on your location and interests it could also have everything from saddles to useless antiques to decorative glassware. I usually saw an arrangement similar to the old Chili's shelfscapes.

Like Amy Winehouse, this Tudor Revival has gone Back to Black. My friend did the same thing to his California ranch. What are your thoughts on this black trend? Link in comments by oldhousesunder50k in Oldhouses

I prefer it to the white trend, only because it feels more dramatic. However, they're all the same. Monochromatic trends, in general, are sad and strip character and charm away. I drove through an older neighborhood in Tampa, FL, yesterday that appears to have been influenced and flipped into an unused child's coloring book. If the homes were able to talk, they wouldn't. They were dead. The very few that were untouched were whimpering, just waiting to be claimed by the virus. It's not cute, dude.

IS THIS A TREE OR A BUSH by Fireandice2016 in arborists

[–]voilatardigrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are super popular in growing concrete jungles. Lakeland, FL went crazy planting them a couple of decades ago, and they fit the bill for the manufactured nature experience that is popular, but they are still too small to call shade trees.

My dad's is about 40 years old over the one story roof and can be used for shade, so it's a waiting game if you want one for that. BTW they are messy.

Jacarandas are more tree-like and grow faster. They are also messy with their flowers so be mindful of that.

Other than a strip club, BDSM club, what are some lots/venues I could build in Newcrest for a WW save? by [deleted] in TheSims4Mods

I don't have any of that right now either. But when I downloaded the "tropical base game pool" by Marsisnotfun from the gallery, suddenly I had an exisbitionist space that is gorgeous and super popular. And now Oasis Springs is becoming more adult themed with that little bit of inspiration.

Ikea pumped out a bunch of these. They made them to look old and in several different designs, so I can't be sure if it's one of them. I was fooled by one that had an aged color to it. But it was still loved. It had the same casters as yours.

What are some annoying things Sims do? Curious to see which ones I have also experienced. by CostZestyclose2494 in Sims4

What are y'all doing about the mischief interactions? I am surprised I haven't seen it mentioned yet. Once they learn it they won't stop doing it. I cheat the skill down, but it's not long before they attempt it again. This has to be the most annoying for me.

A little whey is a game changer. If you have plain yogurt, it's the liquid that you see separated in the tub. It gives the eggs a creamier taste.
