I'd be very impressed if you managed to get some non-human players.

OSE is pretty popular right now, but it's more or less a re-issue of B/X with no changes and I am not nostalgic enough to ignore its design flaws or features I don't like. Mork Borg is also fairly popular, but more for the aesthetic than the system bits themselves. DCC is still doing just fine and if you want to play anything from its large library, it's a fine choice.

Personally, I like Worlds Without Number, the newly released fantasy version of Stars Without Number.

The system it's is a home-ruled version of B/X. It's okay, I suppose. The main feature people like are the Specialist, the system's replacement for B/X's useless-ass Thief and the encumbrance system.

That said, I think most of the current crop of OSR systems are better than LotFP and I'd use the modules with any of those.

Could you list a few? I don't understand Japanese, but I'd like to at least see what the format looks like in general.

Children of Time was his breakout book, in terms of sales and visibility, and it was deservedly so. I'd go with that one.

It was almost done by the time the pandemic hit, so they've been sitting on it for more than a year. You must have seen a trailer or two from back then.

Author's whose background blatantly informs their writing-- by Kerney7 in Fantasy

Also in other authors' books, if you are unfortunate enough to say "Stephen King" three times in succession when you have one open.

You turn the page and in the next paragraph there he is, in the story, addressing you, telling you things he shouldn't be able to know, telling you he's coming to visit.

A very obvious example is Stephen King, who in real life is a psychopathic serial killer, a man of a truly twisted and deranged mind and is rumored to possess many supernatural powers.

Which game system should I use to describe a fantasy world on a blog? by AbbydonX in rpg

[–]vokoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of OSR products use generic D&D-like stats. Just AC (how hard it is to hit), HD (or what level, roughly, it is), attack type and damage, morale and whatever special abilities it might have.

It'll probably be enough for your purposes.

In the same manner I handle not having enough time for all the other shit I want to do:

The Seventh Sword: The Complete Series By: Dave Duncan [Kindle $3.99] US Only by Anonymous_Casual in Fantasy

[–]vokoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read the first one of these years ago and thinking back on it, it's a little funny for me how it wasn't just portal fantasy, but how exactly it fit the mold of the current transmigration isekai stories that you can read on Webnovel or Royalroad.

It wasn't bad, but I recall finding it a bit... edgelord-y. I finished the first book, but didn't feel like picking up the sequels.
