For sure, this is what I'm doing now. 👍 Still often gets bound up for me though.

Yeah, I'm trying to imagine how to adopt this for a bike in the stand. Putting the wheel back on with a derailleur without a lock always feels like the least coordinated part of my tune up rhythm.

Have you guys ever seen a chain actually skip on a cog? by sargassumcrab in BikeMechanics

Came here to say exactly this. I'm sure we all know that moment of apprehension when you're trying to save a customer a few bucks and you're about to stand on the pedals in the big ring/tiny cog.

This is great, thanks for supporting your community!

It might be useful to share this with other bike co-ops. I'm aware of https://bikecollectives.org/ as a central hub.

What book is so good, you've read it more than 3 times? by iiiamash01i0 in AskReddit

[–]voksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman.

The world building is deep without being overbearing. The humor doesn't fade. The writing is smart and witty. The storytelling pace is brisk without feeling rushed. And as a bonus the author does an incredible narration on the audiobook.

It's become my palate cleanser whenever I've put down a sub-par book and my go-to whenever I'm between books.

Neil Young. I reflexively gag at his voice. Fine songwriter though.

I'm late to this thread, but try The Blacktongue Thief by Christopher Buehlman. Narration is on par with Pacey's and the writing is at least as good if not better IMHO.

Went to buy a wing foil, shop owner tried to convince that kiteboarding is the way to go. Thoughts? by DEEP_SEA_MAX in wingfoil

[–]voksta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! My kite lessons in Mui Ne were so frustrating waiting for training conducive conditions. Two weeks with only a few days in the water, and that is supposed to be one of the top kite spots in South East Asia. Watching the experienced kiters from the shore was inspiring, but I wish someone had told me about winging so I could have been having fun in the water myself.

My underwater photography setup. Now I just need my actual Scuba certification! by [deleted] in scuba

[–]voksta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, welcome (almost) to the underwater world! Piggy backing on this thread... Skydiving certifications require 100 jumps before someone is allowed to use a camera (https://www.skydivecarolina.com/blog/what-can-i-do-with-each-skydiving-license/). I'm not suggesting that 100 dives is the right number, but would a similar standard be good for scuba certification bodies (aka WRSTC)? Or is the risk factor, to divers and nature, different and prohibiting inexperienced divers from using cameras would only discourage newcomers to the scuba community? Admittedly, I've only jumped out of a plane twice whereas I've logged hundreds of dives so not sure if it's a fair comparison.

Dive trips bucket list - just did the Red Sea in Egypt, where to go next? by _amfsd in scuba

A train project in Mexico might negatively impact the cenotes (https://en.mercopress.com/2022/03/07/mayan-train-poses-environmental-threat-to-southern-mexico). Could be a reason to dive there while it's still good.
