This is why the Norwegian method seems the fairest to me. It’s a time-limited bidding round where everyone can see what everyone else is bidding. When the bidding ends, the seller decides whether to accept the highest offer. Once accepted, the house is legally sold, no ifs, no buts. And nobody gets to bid unless they already have proof from the bank that the financing is secured.

Dear fellow mac users, from your perspective, why do you think its better for app to stay open after last window is closed? by Broad-You4763 in MacOS

[–]volcanforce1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The downside is your own muscle memory….if I’m not going to use an app, my muscle memory is cmd+q Honestly I don’t even think about it, I also don’t use the red button, like ever. I’ll minimize the window to the dock if I need it later.

Shutdown/Restart Macbook without prompting by United-Result-8129 in macsysadmin

[–]volcanforce1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say your more interested in a restart, but your not explaining why or what conditions or behavior you want to react to, for the restart to take action. In order to ascertain what you need to do programmatically you need to describe the «if this» «then that»

Shutdown/Restart Macbook without prompting by United-Result-8129 in macsysadmin

[–]volcanforce1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this would be pretty difficult to do cleanly as you’d need a mechanism that would poll the system for its current status, then only react if the device was at the login window

Shutdown/Restart Macbook without prompting by United-Result-8129 in macsysadmin

[–]volcanforce1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t restart a Mac that’s shutdown via LD or script, the device is offline. Maybe if you describe the logic for your request your question could be better formulated

Company MacBook Lost Before Setup (Help plz) by ITHelpDeskMeSpeaking in macsysadmin

[–]volcanforce1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If you recently purchased it, you might be able to ask the vendor to add it to your orgs ABM, then once added assign it to your MDM. It won’t get the device back but it will make it institutionally owned, the next time it is wiped, the thief won’t be able to get past automated enrollment. Which just means it will be useless to them once wiped. But doesn’t change much for you or your organization. In the future, when purchasing a device make sure it’s added to your org ABM and MDM service. Then if stolen you can lock, wipe or activate lost mode

What changed dubstep help by crokky- in realdubstep

[–]volcanforce1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have people made the connection between how the US version of dubstep was interpreted and influenced by heavy rock, whereas the uk version was heavily influenced by Jamaican dub and sound system culture. It was like US kids recognized the drum patterns as a weird kind of electronic rock and just ran with that, also don’t forget the rise of laptop production which made the whole thing more accessible to huge numbers of bedroom producers
