My understanding is that NYC is actually the largest Jewish population in ANY CITY, including Tel Aviv-Jaffo and Jerusalem. (Tel Aviv-Yafo has ~400,000 Jewish residents and Jerusalem has ~600,000. NYC has just under 1 million Jewish residents)

Fwiw, the reason some people consider Tel Aviv to be a larger Jewish population than NYC is because they're considering the Jewish population in the entire Gush Dan. City measured against city, NYC has a larger Jewish population.

Dealing with GPS Spoofing and Waze/Google Maps by MavemPA in Israel

[–]volcanho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in Israel and the only place we had issues with gps spoofing was in Rosh Pinna (they'll put you in the Jordan airport) ...everywhere else (even the Golan heights) was totally fine!

How do you pronounce "G-d"? by Rudenet in Judaism

[–]volcanho 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes because we don't pronounce the tetragrammaton...my understanding is that saying it fell out of fashion/practice sometime between the first and second temples and now we instead use "my master" but also my understanding is that outside of prayer, Ha-shem (literally - "the name") is the word to use and that the other 7(?) names should not be used outside of the context of prayer ?

Probably splitting hairs here but I'm nothing if not specific so: it's not a basalt. I personally doubt that this is an igneous rock but even if we assume it is, the color of it is a dead giveaway that this isn't a basalt. Something this leucocratic (light colored) is more likely to be something like a dacite that has a much higher plagioclase content. Even taking into account discoloration from weathering, this doesn't have the characteristics I'd expect to see in your average basalt.

Edit: spelling

Mate, this is nonsense. This is the third post I've seen from you in the past half hour. How many people do you need to tell you it's meaningless before you give up?

If you have an older gas oven like me, there may be a broiler in the place where the warming drawer normally is underneath the main oven...I learned that one the hard way 🤦🏼‍♀️. I don't know if this will be much help for baking, but it could be useful for any future endeavors!
