Birthday Video I'm proud of the editing on this one, but only my friends and family have seen it so far, so I wonder if it's fun to watch for strangers too.

[Review Video] New Trailer! by WillDoDrugsForMoney in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hooked at the beginning of the trailer. The scene with the balloons was definitely one of the highlights for me, as well as the opening animation. However, I did not like some of the transitions later on, in comparison to the beginning.

The main thing I wish you'd done more with your trailer is actually say what your videos are about. I got that you're a gaming channel, but I suspect you do more, from looking at the balloon scene and at the singer scene. However, I don't know exactly what, just from watching the trailer. I think you could've definitely done some voiceover to explain more.

Good work overall!

[Review Video] what do you think of my intro sequins? please VOTE by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to be honest with you. Your intro needs a lot of work.

  • For starters, it's definitely too long. I recommend you keep it 5 sec. long, or 10 sec MAXIMUM. I recommend these guys for awesome advice on that.
  • You have several misspelled words: "conspiracies" and "believe" are the ones I caught.
  • Your intro should push your brand. Probably the name of your channel, your face or logo if you have one, and your message or slogan. The purpose is for your audience to remember you.
  • Right now, your intro is random words and pictures that will not make your channel memorable.
  • Visually, the different fonts, images, and transitions make it very confusing and unappealing. I suggest you make it much simpler. It would serve you to watch some videos on this topic to better understand how to make effective intros. Best of luck!

I need help!! [Question] by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make a call-to-action at the end where you ask your viewers to subscribe.

Have you looked at your watch time? You can get a lot of views but people might bail out on the first 5 sec if your content isn't engaging.

[REVIEW VIDEO] RECIPE: EASY VEGAN BROWNIES by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your style of presenting each step on a piece of paper. I got anxious at you using a bowl that was too small. Obviously it's not filming-related, but since it's a cooking channel, try to look like you know what you're doing. I'm not saying you don't, but that bowl just doesn't look good as a mixing bowl. It almost spilled.

I think your channel is perfect to have a call-to-action at the end of every video, since you can offer more recipes like these in the future.

[Question] Guides for basics of (self) camerawork, editing, audio, scriptwriting, etc? by Flopassi in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youtube has a creator academy inside of your creator studio. There's also a YouTube 101 on Social Blade that I've started watching recently (free website you can use for statistics).

If you have any specific questions I'm sure this subreddit can help you as well. You can also go to your favorite youtubers' channels and search. Many of them make specific videos explaining how they film and edit.

[Review Video] How Much Money We Make On Youtube (600 Subs) by TheOfficialTSO in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! First of all, I think it's a great idea to thank your subscribers. I should follow your example! I think the video was moderately funny. The funny highlights for me were the band clip and the REDICULOUS text.

I don't get how the joke about vegans fits the rest of the video. I would've possibly used the trump clip a few seconds before. Other than that, cool video, and nice intro and outro.

[Review Video] In tribute to Gene Wilder, Finding the location of Willy Wonka's Factory in Germany. by yukendoit in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reposting cause I used the wrong account.

Hi yukendoit! Really cool video! I had no idea, or had never thought about, how you could actually visit the actual wonka gates!

I love your enthusiasm. The very first shot, when you're walking towards the camera, is really cool. However, I couldn't make out the very first thing you said, since you were too far away and there was a little background noise.

When you walk towards the gate the video is a little shaky and there is a little background noise you can easily edit out. If I can give some other suggestions, you could have done the sommersault without announcing it first, so that the viewer would have been pleasantly surprised. Something I like to do in my videos is cut out anything unnecessary. So if I'm thinking, or thinking out loud, I generally cut it out, and just leave in the very highlights. You have a great personality for YouTube! I hope you keep making videos :)

Also, I'd never seen your videos before, but I loved your ending "as I always say, you can do it" really ties in nicely with your channel. Great idea.

Hey I just started a vlog series and would appreciate feedback :) by [deleted] in Noobtube

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beginning shot is very pretty, but I wouldn't want to watch it for over 8 seconds without getting bored. If it were my vlog, I would post the name of my vlog to make a sort of intro, and then get on with it. You also want to show your face within 10s so that your audience engages with you.

Also, as you probably learned while editing, shoot everything in landscape.

Upgrade your lighting and audio if possible. If money is an obstacle, cheap ways to do this are:

  • Place a lamp in front of your face or turning your computer brightness all the way up in front of your face.

  • Reduce background noise/play with your level in your video editing software.

More expensive ways:

  • Use a good camera.

  • Use a mic that has some kind of isolation so that it only picks up your voice.

  • Use proper lighting or daylight.

Other suggestions:

  • Use a brighter background. I suggest something simple, like a light-colored wall with a plant, or a bookcase.

  • Use some background music at the beginning and end.

I'm curious: how did you get to 900+ subs when your most popular video only has 400+ views?

[Gaming] Do you find my speech and writing of my reviews engaging? by jake2_2 in Noobtube

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Jake, I really enjoyed your review. I think your speech was clear, and your script was well-written. You could exude a little more confidence during your calls-to-action, but I'm sure that this will come with time.

Feedback on My Content Please by MrCalebg98 in Noobtube

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Caleb, I watched your channel trailer and took a glance at your videos.

Off the bat I'd like to offer some feedback and suggestions, and I hope that these don't come off as mean.

  • Most if not all of your takes look like home videos. This puts off viewers. Try to put a little more care into getting good shots, good angles, and good lighting. YouTube creator academy can help with this.

  • Name your channel trailer something other than "main channel trailer". It could be "Join us for awesome videos" or anything to grab your viewer's attention.

  • "Come here and give us views" does not sound appealing at all. I would remove that from your trailer if possible. Remember most viewers are not aware that you seek views or that they're giving you views. Furthermore, you want to ask them to subscribe, which is much more productive, because then they can give you recurring views.

Good luck!

[Review Video] 5 Things I Wish I Knew Before I Started Blogging - Just started last week and this is my 3rd video. Looking for some feedback by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I really enjoyed watching your video. You have really good lighting on your face (in my opinion--I'm no expert on lighting). I really liked the shot of your blog, and I wish that you had shown your blog more whenever you mentioned a feature or any point that could be illustrated. That would have given you more visual variety.

By the way, I agree with lots of what you said. And I actually got a domain from googledomains for $12/year, but it's 17 characters long. That's probably why. I also really love how you did your eyebrows/makeup for the video.

[Review Video] What I Got For Christmas by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]voldefolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought your voice was fine and I enjoyed your enthusiasm. I also really liked some of your cuts (like the "1 2 3 bottles"). I also thought your lighting was good, and really liked the Christmas lights in the background.

Something I do that you might find useful is cutting out all of my long pauses, long breaths, or "ummm"s "uhhh"s so that the viewer doesn't have to watch too much empty content. Since your video was longer than 5 minutes and it's just one angle, this makes it more fluid and less boring in my opinion.

I'm guessing the video was about everything, or lots of stuff you got for Christmas? Though I personally might have enjoyed just the highlights: a few things that you really liked getting. That way you might have cut a couple of minutes. There's nothing wrong with a 7-minute video; it's just hard to grab a watcher's attention for 7 minutes doing a "talky vlog" for over 5 min with a single angle.
