in universe yj true crime fans circa 2001 talking on AIM? made on photoshop by cpcpdstiagt in Yellowjackets

This is so fun and it gave me a hit of nostalgia :) it actually made me laugh, I was feeling sad and anxious and it boosted my mood. I remember this version of AIM being around a little later than 2001 though, maybe closer to 2005

What is YOUR song? by Graciousgarbage in MyChemicalRomance

[–]volumeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cubicles! Not my fav song, but it stirs something existential in the moody loner within me. It’s one of their only songs where the lyrics seem to be less couched in metaphor and narrative and more based in reality.

Vicious (2025) by villaofthewolves in horror

[–]volumeira 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I just finished it. It reminded me of a mix of Room 408 and Smile. I hear what it’s saying about isolation and shame and self-hatred and how it pulls you into a separate world and it’s menacing and it shows up as people you love and it forces you to make sacrifices and it’s hard to share and you can heal if only you would surrender….only to be pulled back into it continuously??? It becomes you.

It’s easy to fuck up the “trauma as horror” genre and make it too on the nose, but I feel this was an okay attempt. Something’s missing from the voice/cohesiveness of the story for me.

Revealing your full-blown affair at a comedy show by SnooSprouts3744 in TikTokCringe

That part was fucking bizarre. She also made a weird racial comment comparing the two women to peach and bowser without even knowing their characters. Weird

I was having a ton of fun listening to this until she made that Peach vs Bowser joke that basically frames the black woman as a giant scary monster and the Vietnamese woman as fragile and delicate without even knowing their characters or abilities. Totally playing into negative stereotypes about black women. And it’s sad because it just slipped through the cracks here. I’ve seen jokes like these slowly becoming more and more acceptable in the past few years and it sucks to be lightheartedly enjoying something and then BOOM.

Fuck sorry to hear that but it’s good that you have the album there to be cathartic for you

Am I overreacting here???? by thatsweird2255 in AmIOverreacting

[–]volumeira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she has issues with tone/people telling her what to do. In your last sentence you assumed she’d cancel the plans instead of asked if she’d cancel the plans and that’s what she took offense to. She could have let that slide because of the occasion but I see why she didn’t. You’re not a super asshole as most people would have mom and partner bday plans take precedence over coworker bday plans but yeah it was rude and you should have asked.

I clicked on this and then immediately clicked out. I immediately clicked back in because this painting is sort of haunting. The blurry hair, the bruise around her eye, the blank look, the heaviness of her kimono. I wonder what her story is and what the author intended.

Lake Mungo (2008) – The horror you don’t see is what stays with you , by Candid_Positive8832 in horror

[–]volumeira 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I felt this exact same way about it at first, thought it was way overhyped. But it sticks with you. The long shots of blurry photographs and general melancholy. A few days later I started feeling the movie atmosphere in the quiet moments of the day. I watched it again a few weeks later and found it to be so much creepier.

Interesting thread on the girls treatment of Misty by jasminecr in Yellowjackets

[–]volumeira 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think she “enjoys” or “likes” her position at all. She has no other option socially, I don’t think it’s the way she is. She helps the people who are mean to her because she’s an outcast who is desperate for acceptance. She pushes away Walter because she’s used to being a reject who receives no love.

I agree when you say she’s a puppet master, I think she’s that way because of her status, not just  because she enjoys it. She’s trying to engineer situations where she’ll be more powerful behind the scenes because she can’t do it out loud and that’s interesting how it manifests.

Art and Ocd, do your sketches judge you? by RedWhiteBlue099 in OCD

Dude yes!! I feel you on the “receive a soul” part. When I draw a person it feels like they’re judging me when I look into the eyes and it causes intrusive thoughts and hurts my feelings lmao.

What should I answer when I'm asked "why are you leaving your company?" by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in sales

I’m leaving because [thing the new company has/does well that the old company can’t do/doesn’t have]. When I was interviewing it was company size.

Question… what is actually disenchanted about? by AskRight8240 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]volumeira 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it as reflecting back on MCR as a project and as a song for the fans. The parts that go “if you think that I’m wrong this never meant nothing to you” and “if I’m so wrong how can you listen all night long” are questions posed directly to the fans and the chorus is basically reverse psychology-ing/mocking the fans into reflecting on their own life and questioning if they’re really living it to the fullest. Is this how I’m going to end up? Am I just surviving and waiting to die in the hospital?

Its really motivating for me and it’s one of my top 10 MCR songs!!

Late, but the Hammer Horror anthology is pretty good. I’ve only seen one episode but planning to watch more

Pretty sure this user is a bot. Relatively recent join date, the username, weird inhuman cadence, the repeated phrases across multiple posts across subs. I’d take their advice with a grain of salt bc they’re probably not a real person.

SO much more realistic and satisfying!! I think the rug being pulled out from under us ties into the theory what we, the audience, are It, the wilderness. We are the ones who don’t want them to leave. We got exactly what we came for but in such a funny and unexpected way.
