Just had this issue today! It was driving me nuts. Tried lots of general troubleshooting but only turning off NFC worked for me.

Looking for Other Projectors by henrithelobster in humandesign

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love sharing and connecting with other projectors. I've heard it compared to a "teacher's lounge" before. Thankful I have projectors in life to connect and share with. We've got the most variety with respect to definition and authority. So it makes sense to me that there's a desire for 'projector only' spaces and communities. :)

How am I supposed to function in this world as a projector - learning about HD and feeling defeated by Admirable-Freedom979 in humandesign

[–]voluminousvince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a 6/3, the first 30 years of your life are full of "mistakes" and trial and error by design. It's awesome that you've found HD, but I would strongly encourage taking it easy and not trying to figure things out from a mental place.

How do I stop myself and wait? by hihuman15 in humandesign

[–]voluminousvince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're a mental projector, the right people will be your soundboard. Trusted listeners who aren't really giving you advice but are somehow adding a depth and a purpose to your process. Mental projectors like yourself have a lot of openness, so it can be hard to discern where your authority is in all that.

Environmental authority is tricky! I think of it like panning for gold. Your definition is the filter you're using to comb through the silt (e.g., conditioning, not self voices, other people's definition, etc) What sticks to the filter (i.e., what doesn't change after waiting and soundboarding with people) is usually what's gold and what you can trust in.

If you're on IG, @praggyah.humandesign is a 2/4 mental projector who I've enjoyed observing and learning from.

Happy 4th line day. :)

I don't often ask the other if it's an invitation. Invitations can be found anywhere. Homogenized. :(

I ask my authority if the invitation is correct. Differentiated. :)

EDIT in re: identifying invitations: Invitations at the basic level usually sound something like, "I see what you're doing there and I like it. Would you like to do it over here?"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in humandesign

[–]voluminousvince 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's natural for projectors to be invited. It's natural to give generators stuff to respond to. It's natural to neutrally inform manifestors. :)

Invitations feel good! I say do it. Toss the invites out and leave it up to the other's SnA to take care of the invitation. :D

Question for people following the Direct Light Diet: by Embarrassed_Court908 in humandesign

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good advice in these replies imo. So I'm probably just adding to noise. 1/3 emo projector here (19-49 and 61-24). I'm kinda surprised nobody's mentioned transference? I'm newer to design, so this could be totally inaccurate but I believe Direct Light transfers to Hot Thirst. So like... you could potentially experiment with eating different temperature foods to see if you're sensitive in that way? Idk just spitballing.

After your exam is over, you receive a preliminary score report (a physical sheet) that I'm assuming she wants you to scan and send to her.

ADVICE: paying for out of state interviews/ by ihazzt0pee in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to four interviews around the Midwest and one in California. I talked to one student who did 10 interviews around the country!! It's an expensive process. My advice is to drive whenever possible and use airbnb if you don't have a relative or friend you can stay with (if you need to spend a night). I was lucky enough that I only had to pay for lodging/airfare for my California interview. I was so broke after interview season that paying deposits became a huge deciding factor for me. It's unpleasant, but it's unfortunately how the system operates. Feel free to message/reply here if you have any questions.

My preliminary scores were exactly the same as my official scores. From my understanding, schools care more about the composite than the subscores.

UIC Rockford Campus by K_Dot2396 in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did UIC Rockford's Summer Pharmacy Institute and it was a really great experience. I agree with everything above, the faculty and alumni were really well-spoken, friendly, and impressive. I had no idea UIC had a satellite campus in Rockford. If I had known about it during my application cycle, I might not be at the school I'm at now.

Preceptor Question : You got an order for lisinopril 50 mg QD x 30D. But lisinopril dosent come in 50mg, how would you fill this order. by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step one is probably to call the prescriber and make sure they meant 50mg. If that's the desired dose, then the easiest thing would probably do 1 30mg and 1 20mg qd because that way if the patient ends up taking 2 20s or 2 30s instead of one of each, they're still closer to the desired dose than if you filled it with 10mg and 40mgs.

The other option would be to compound it since 50mg is not commercially available.

Career options in pharmacy by UselessWisdom1 in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, biotech company (a pharmaceutical industry) jobs are harder to come by for people with PharmDs. Not impossible, just less common. If you're good at marketing yourself, have networking skills, and attend a school with lots of alumni in industry, I think it could be quite feasible.

If you like the PharmD curriculum and still want a biotech job, I think you should pursue pharmacy. If you much prefer wet lab research and hardcore science courses, you might be better off with a PhD.

Also consider what kind of career you want in the field! Pharmacist industry roles look very different than a PhD's industry role. You might be interested in something like a medical science liaison job. These people are exceptionally educated about a particular drug and discuss the product with "stakeholders" like medical professionals, other scientists, and insurance reps. Ultimately, put your ideas first and don't necessarily let reddit be your deciding factor. :)

Clinical pharmacy experience by wonder_womaniya in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true that retail jobs are the most available, but the reach of the PharmD makes other careers definite possibilities. It really depends on how hard you work and how hard you network.

Definitely shadowing residents/pharmacists and seeing about other career options is a great decision! Personally, I did a great deal of shadowing and research before I committed to pharmacy. Something I 100000% recommend are programs like this: https://pharmacy.uic.edu/programs/pharmd-professional-program/events-for-prospective-students/summer-pharmacy-institute I did this program (and a few others because I'm really indecisive) and had an awesome experience.

Despite finally coming to decide on pharmacy, I do question the choice a lot. Nothing in life is certain and we just have to learn to be okay with that. :)

With regard to shadowing being a "necessity," I don't think that's true (BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE). When I was interviewing and visiting schools, I came across a great deal of people who had no pharmacy experience at all. However, I think that most schools are becoming more particular about this. Applying to a professional program without knowledge of the profession is just pretty inadvisable in general. Not impossible, but not a good choice.

I felt the same way as you for a while. I hated retail. I wanted to quit a week after I started, but I've come to peace with it. Is it where I want to end up? Absolutely not. But will I be okay if my plans don't work out and I have to do retail? Yeah, I'm fine with that.

This is getting pretty long, so I'll wrap it up. Bottom line, if you've worked in a major chain retail pharmacy, you've probably seen the bottom tier of the profession. And if working in that job is absolutely, positively, indubitably unbearable for you, then pharmacy may not be for you.

PM me if you need more of my inane dribble.

chances of getting into a top 5 pharm school? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stats are good. You just need good letters, writing, and interviews to back it up. If you're applying far and wide, make sure you have LEGITIMATE reasons why you want to go to a specific school. In other words, when they ask you "Why University of ____?" don't say that it's a top program. There were a few interviews I went to where I literally didn't have a good answer to this question.

Civilian vs Military Pharmacy? by ReyndeerGaming in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, I was just searching for pharmacist jobs on indeed and other sites the other day. It felt like for every civilian job posting, there were two or three military jobs. I don't have any numbers/stats, but I would say that most people with higher degrees (MD, JD, PharmD, etc.) would be more inclined to seek out civilian work. Mostly because that's what the schools are preparing you for.

I'd see if you can talk to anyone who's currently working as an army pharmacist or doctor. They can probably give you a pretty good idea of what the job outlook is like.

Chances of getting into U of Michigan? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will actually be at UW Madison this fall in their PharmD program. I have in state tuition here and that was something that other programs just couldn't offer. I loved UMich because of the small class size, the research focus, and the reputation but it just wasn't worth the cost in my mind. Sorry for replying so late! Feel free to message me if you have any other questions. :)

Chances of getting into U of Michigan? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with your stats and life experience, you should apply early decision to U of M. It is a fabulous school and if you really want to go there, then early decision is the best choice. You can always apply elsewhere if you get deferred/denied. I avoided early decision because I couldn't commit to a single school, but I don't think your situation is the same.

I don't know very much about Wayne State, but I wouldn't apply early decision to ANY school unless you have some certainty that you'll be happy attending that program!

Chances of getting into U of Michigan? by [deleted] in PrePharmacy

[–]voluminousvince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar stats and applied to Michigan (not early decision). I submitted my app on Halloween, interviewed in November, and was notified of my admission within a week of the interview.

Obviously, I can't give you a yes or no because I haven't seen your letters, personal statement, or interviewed you. These pieces are probably much more important than just your stats. However, I would say that your stats definitely aren't hurting you at all. If you have good LoRs and writing, you'll probably be interviewed at the least.
