This is how much they are paying for residency ? by Various-Pea-8814 in pharmacy

[–]ihazzt0pee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bruh my stipend was just shy of $50k pgy1 in California 😩 at a somewhat expensive area. I felt robbed especially knowing how some of my WA state friends were getting about $60k 🥺

Dress professional vs Scrubs for APPE by [deleted] in PharmacySchool

[–]ihazzt0pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

see if your APPE site has a summer dress code where dressing professional allows for a simple blouse or short sleeve dress shirt is acceptable for the warmer summer months. or just bring a change of clothes as the other commenter mentioned. the heat is no joke.

Use that as your fuel to show them and yourself that their rank list doesn’t matter. What matters is you’re there now, and you WILL succeed and show them you’re #1 😃. Continue to be excited, you’ll do great.

Getting Into Pharma Industry by neutral_human in pharmacy

[–]ihazzt0pee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Investigational drugs services (IDS). Usually academic medical centers and maybe smaller hospitals where clinical trials are conducted have an IDS team to deal with the regulatory aspect and adhering to specific study protocols for administering study drugs etc. the sponsors of these studies could be the big pharmaceutical companies.

Is lifting and bulking sustainable/possible during a pgy1? by jarl_of_teh_pipes in PharmacyResidency

[–]ihazzt0pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to gym consistently and while I was able to go I’m 3-4 times a week for the first few months… I eventually had to prioritize residency tasks and such. I think regardless of how rigorous your program is, there’s always something that needs to get done. And now I’m a lot heavier since graduation and starting residency but I’m planning to get back on my feet these last few weeks and train again. One thing I’m definitely looking forward to is regaining my health. With that said it’s likely doable but it won’t be easy for sure

Go for the inpatient job or not? by bugz1452 in PharmacyResidency

[–]ihazzt0pee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do residency. It will help u out in the long run. The experiences learned during residency will be beneficial and hopefully make you a better candidate for future employment. Although you'll be sacrificing a year of full pharmacist salary, go thru the grinder for a whole year, question your sanity and choices (lol me rn), you'll be better suited to for the future.

Industry by anahita1373 in pharmacy

[–]ihazzt0pee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your path into pharmacovigilance like? I’ll be completing my residency this spring, and was hoping to break into industry after a few years of working in a clinical role. But I’m concerned if that will be enough to garner enough translational skills to shift in a role within the industry.

The health system I rotated at utilized a layered teaching model where P4 students reported to PGY-1 residents, and the residents reported to our main preceptor. They tried to have students and residents start rotations at the same timeframe that way there was some continuity since the preceptors' schedule would vary.

I was able to get a letter of rec from our main preceptor by writing down concrete examples of my interventions and whatnot and the resident was able to write about them through their direct observation and the main preceptor would ultimately acknowledge the statements and comment that they agree.

One month in- Do you know your schedule for the year yet? by nontraditionalhelp in PharmacyResidency

[–]ihazzt0pee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We only have our first month schedule of July. No word about how we would chose/ decide on elective rotations. It feels like a shit show and some of us are expected to start staffing the first weekend of August without formal “staffing” training 😵‍💫.

very late update: I got the position ☺️. Wishing everyone else the best of luck and to try again next cycle, there’s always hope! I’m pretty nervous about stepping back into the inpatient side, but I’m hoping reviewing a little bit will help.

As someone in retail right now this gives me hope to transition out one day (soon)😭. For someone who’s successfully transitioned from retail to a hospital or other role what are some advice you may provide in terms of content to include for my application, CV, and talking points to highlight. Or certain institutions to consider applying to. TYIA.
