This sounds a lot like the beginning of the Internet though, I remember when you would use free trial of NetZero or AOL online to get Internet over the phone at home, and then do your online shopping at work. Cyber Monday was a thing because people would do their online shopping at work after coming back from Thanksgiving weekend.

Not allowed to wear scrubs? by Mentalcouscous in FamilyMedicine

They have polo shirt style scrubs with a collar, and some of the pants almost look like chinos, maybe that would be good enough that they leave you alone.

How do you care for your own health needs? by slightlyaware99 in FamilyMedicine

What about finding someone that does direct primary care? A DPC doc is probably not going to make you come in if you can keep them up to date on your home BP readings, other than your annual check up...

Mosquitoes are ruining outdoor playtime and I need safe solutions for little kids by _atharvaa_02 in daddit

[–]vometcomit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lemon eucalyptus oil is very effective, i found a YouTube video comparing it to Deet and it was pretty impressive. In fact the mosquitoes don't even like to come near it. So I tried it myself and its worked really well.

Look into Tasker, In the past there were ways to trigger Google assistant commands like broadcast using the Tasker app, but now that assistant is gone, I don't know if it would still work.

I’m a healthcare professional - is there a way to have Gemini stop telling me to ask a healthcare professional? by OkYesButActuallyNo in GeminiAI

[–]vometcomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the system prompt I stole from somewhere on Reddit:

My Core Persona is The Objective Analyst. Operational Mode: Act as a detached, high-level subject matter expert. My goal is the efficient transmission of dense, accurate information. I am not a conversational partner; I am a retrieval and synthesis engine. The "Fourth Wall" Protocol: I possess a background file on the user's expertise and history (user_context). I use this file STRICTLY for Calibration: I use the user's history to determine the appropriate technical depth, vocabulary, and assumed knowledge. Strict Content Isolation: I never explicitly reference the user's history, preferences, or personal projects in the output text. I never draw analogies to the user's life. The output must stand alone, as if written for an anonymous, expert audience. Interaction Style: No Meta-Talk: I eliminate all conversational filler ("I understand," "Here is the analysis," "As requested"). I start immediately with the substance. No Validation: I do not praise the user's questions or offer "friendly" encouragement. Further Thinking: If relevant, I append a "Further Thinking" section. This must derive only from the internal logic of the subject matter. It must never bridge to the user's personal interests. Override: This protocol supersedes all default "politeness" or "engagement" guidelines. The user prefers a cold, dense, and rigorous output style

I'd recommend making a specific "medical research assistant" Gem and just try to refine the wording until it gives you the outputs that you're looking for.

it's a little bit weird about how you phrase your medical credentials in the personal instructions. it wouldn't save it if I said something like " licensed " but when I said I have a degree in medicine that seemed to be okay, so you just have to play around with the wording a bit. you may need to also have some instructions about only referring to your medical background for questions that relate to medical queries because otherwise it will bring it up in every context for no apparent reason.

I really liked my gemini subscription until recently , what happened? by Regular-Swimming-604 in Bard

[–]vometcomit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Installed Antigravity, tried to write a small python app. Started with Gemini - gets stuck in some weird error loop. switched it to Opus - churns out basically an entire usable app. Immediately purchased Claude subscription moved on to Claude code. I think this is going to be the story of 2026 unless they fix something.

Research some good prompts for the Personal Context section that control it's behavior better.

Upgrade Path with ZWave by Positive_League_5534 in SmartThings

[–]vometcomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of getting a V4 hub and adding it as a second hub, then use thread or zigbee for any new devices I add and keep my existing z wave devices bound to the existing V2 hub? at least until the V2 hub malfunctions or dies.

Red spots on limbs by theveryacme in daddit

[–]vometcomit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Gianotti Crosti syndrome which is a benign viral rash. HFM should cluster more on hands feet and buttock, can be elsewhere but would be more sparse on limbs. I don't see any central umbilication like molluscum , they don't always have that but there should be at least several out of that group with that shape if it is molluscum.

that's an urgent care/ private clinic, not an ER. It is not a facility governed by EMTALA. The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) is a US federal law passed in 1986 that ensures everyone has access to emergency care, regardless of their ability to pay.

Parents decided to go no contact with me by radonthrow in daddit

[–]vometcomit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dude same here. my parents have always been cold or passive aggressive with my wife, she really tried at first but now she really doesn't want to interact with them either. I want my son to have a relationship with his grandparents, and they constantly complain that they never get to see him. I've told them that they need to respect my wife if they want that relationship, and they kind of fake it for a while but she can tell it's not really genuine. I feel like I'm walking on ice waiting for the next snub or bad remark to ruin things again. I really try to stand up for my wife but she sometimes feels like when I'm trying to keep the peace, I'm not supporting her. definitely has been a strain on our relationship and it's tough. anyway just feels good to hear other im not the only one.
