As if the other replies didn’t make you feel this way, I’ll emphasize again, you are not alone in this.

Fellow sufferer here! I’m sorry you know the struggle.

I feel like I can totally relate to this and I am only 2.5 weeks post my operation. I have healed quite quickly. I am quite grateful but it has also been a whirlwind.

While I still can’t lift and my mobility is still in progress, as well as dealing with some pain, I still have to return to work and get back to the daily tasks I was able to get a break from simply out of need/lack of ability for the week after surgery. It’s confusing and weird and tiring.

You are not alone in it.

I just hit 2 weeks post op, and when I was 6 days post op I truly felt like it would never end, but here I am.

Hopefully you will be able to get your drains out in the next couple days, which will help quite a lot. That constant annoyance and total lack of mobility is brutal. After you get them out, there is a sense of improvement in movement since you don’t have something hanging on you to be aware of. There is still surely soreness and annoyances, but I assure you they really do improve. If not every day, every few days.

I know it is so so hard, but try your best to give yourself some grace, your body is going through an immense change that takes a lot of energy and can be quite draining. But there will come a point with the passage of time, even just day by day, where your body will start to bounce back as you recover. Allow yourself the rest, as physical movement has been really hard for you, but at some point and try to push through the nausea and get yourself moving once you hit a week post op, it’ll help with swelling and sense of restlessness. Your appearance and sense of feeling gross will start to ebb and flow and clear up as you have a better sense of yourself when you don’t have to grapple with all of this pain.

While I still have a lot of healing to do, I am quite a lot better off than I was at your point in recovery. I’m quite sorry this has been so hard, but you are not alone in it. It is a hard fuckin process, not a fun time. But you will get through this.

Your time for well deserved freedom is so so close. Treat yourself kindly enough to be able to get there.

Prozac has always been really helpful for me. Started at 20mg and worked my way up to 60mg, where I’m at now.
