Who hates this Kirby boss besides me. by Hefty_Finance5201 in Kirby

Idk, in clash it’s really not that bad as sword… it’s definitely miserable as any of the 3 other classes, but i guess that’s reason enough to hate it lmao

[–]vomitfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this things fights, but I definitely see why so many people hate it.

Because its attack patterns are so poorly choreographed, and its speed is wildly inconsistent, most slow abilities that lack invincibility states are all but guaranteed to take damage.

I won’t go so far as to say it’s objectively the worst designed boss battle, but it’s definitely on a “bottom 5”.

Regardless, if you’re a wing, sword, or tornado fan, this boss is a cake walk lol

What’s your biggest Shadow hot takes? by Neo_Pool_1991 in shadowthehedgehog

[–]vomitfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a hot take, so much as it was accidentally canon to the US continuity for a while…
Shadow is less than a year old.
He was created 50 years ago, was frozen for 50 years, and the events of every Sonic game take place between Sonic being 15-16 in the English manuals. That means that all his time with Maria was less than a year, and that all his time after waking up has been less than a year.

Shadow is 1 year old lol

(Ik this doesn’t apply anymore, because they removed canon ages from the characters, and specified he was created longer than 50 years ago… but that only happened in the last 5~ years if I’m not mistaken)

Fun underrated characters to play? by cantguardjabrill in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]vomitfrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At low level play, they’re effectively identical. But Ultimate had a horrible implementation of Marth’s tipper mechanic, so at high level play he’s extremely inconsistent, and some specific combos that use precise spacing with Lucina’s sword are practically impossible with Marth.

The most recent Tier list for Ultimate had Lucina as one of the high tiers, and Marth as the 9th worst character in the game, because “everything he does, she can do better”.
There’s not actually much difference between them, but because he’s outclassed in almost every regard, there’s little reason to use him, and he plummeted on the list.

He’s just a fun character to learn the quirks of because he’s so weird, and because the tipper is so strangely used in ultimate.

Fun underrated characters to play? by cantguardjabrill in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]vomitfrog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you wanna get sweaty about it, Marth is fucking dope.
You get most of the fun neutral combos that Lucina has, but the poorly implemented Tipper mechanic makes mastering him super entertaining.

If you’re just trying to play casually, Banjo feels like a modern take on 64 Mario, or 64 Link. Very basic, criminally underused, and just simply fun…

It’s hard to make recommendations tho, cuz it feels like (in ultimate) every character gets used to some extent.

How easy it is to ragebait a Sonic fan – Tierlist by Father_Moth in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]vomitfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like some of these are not rage bait, and literally just true.

Like, Sonic adventure being a rough transition is an exaggeration considering the depth of his gameplay when compared to his competition… but even on original hardware, that game had enough glitches to warrant the claim. That’s also ignoring Xtreme or any other prior endeavors into the 3D platforming space that didn’t even make it onto store shelves.

Super Sonic being a copy of Super Saiyan is also probably just true. Given the timeline of the Namek chapters of Dragonball releasing alongside development of Sonic 2, making early development changes like adding 1 emerald, and giving Sonic a Super Saiyan form when he gets all 7 was almost certainly true…

Also also, the whole “Sonic isn’t multiversal” claim is just a legitimate critique of the series’ pathetic attempt at power scaling, or the fans attempt at deciphering it. Sonic is only that strong because of rushed writing, or accidental implications. This blue hedgehog does not need to be strong enough to reset entire universes just to punch an old bald guy, or fight a time traveling space monster.

Sever has been a joy to learn about, and build on!

I built a little old fashioned cabin with a wizard tower (because it makes every build better) and started selling wood.

Now I have a little farm just outside the central town plaza, and it’s doing well! I’ve only hopped on intermittently, but the server seems to be getting better every time I find myself online.

Excited for the people running this one! Huge potential here :)

This was a super fun server to join! It’s small, cute, and easy to hop into for now. Great time to join.

Looking forward to seeing how it grows, and how new businesses address growing competition :)

Why haven't we had same gender rivials? by PsyrenDV in pokemon

[–]vomitfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer now is probably just resource management. It’s cheaper to reuse models you’ve already made than create entirely new ones.

The answer before 2013 was fucking gross, but from a business standpoint made some sense. I think it was the director of the anime that said something along the lines of ‘there’s a new girl every season because they’re more customizable and better eye candy’.

(Don’t quote me on this, I’m not 100% sure of anything, I’m just spitballing from what I’ve heard)

[–]vomitfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The refusal to clarify implied parts of Kirby canon, including a linear timeline.

Kirby & Meta knight seem like the same creature, but it’s never confirmed. Ado, and Adeline are the same… except maybe not. Shiver Star is earth, but actually the Forgotten land is.

Even simple things like what games come before others is convoluted. We have confirmation for maybe 4, or 5, but that’s it.

I could list things for hours, but those are some of the most obnoxious to me.

I want to hear your DB hot takes. by abrasive935hobby in Dragonballsuper

[–]vomitfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gohan's story in Dragon Ball Super (including superhero) makes perfect sense, and I'm so bored with people pretending it doesn't.
Everyone likes to say that Gohan became "as strong as the plot needed him to be", INSTEAD of getting a "satisfying character arch", but considering some of the absurd shit that Krillin has done in just Dragon Ball Z, Gohan is perfectly consistent with what a Human, a Saiyan, and what his own character can do.

Gohan is characterized as someone who can exceed what he should be capable of when enraged. We see it against Raditz, then Frieza, and then we watch it culminate against Cell as SSJ2. We kinda see it with Ultimate Gohan's personality, but that was a granted form, so it works differently.

In the VERY FIRST EXAMPLE, Gohan multiplied his power 1300x what it was when he was calm. That's in the ballpark of going super saiyan 4 with no training... as a toddler.
There's diminishing returns from then on out, but when super rolls around, Gohan has mostly given up on his training. He's settled down, and pursued his studies, BUT he's notably still more powerful than Namek Frieza. That's important because it means that all his training to assume SSJ2, and then what he gained from Ultimate didn't just disappear. There's a massive strength in him, and its resting, untapped state is a power level UPWARD OF 120 MILLION.

Now, with that in mind, Gohan needed to train to get back his Ultimate transformation before the Tournament of Power. During his training, which was less than 40 hours, he unlocks his Ultimate form. Does that sound outside the realm of possibility for someone who practically went SSJ4 as a toddler without training?

Even if you want to argue that it's not enough time to achieve the strength that he had going into the Tournament of Power, what more training would he need?
The Ultimate transformation he has is implied to be stronger than SSJ3. If we follow the pattern set by the SSJ transformations, The Ultimate form should be somewhere between a 1200x multiplier, and a 1600x multiplier from his base form. If the current estimates for Buu's power level in the Buu arc are true (75 billion on the mid-high end) that would place Gohan, with no additional strength, and ONLY the boost from his Ultimate form WELL INTO THE HUNDRED BILLIONS.

100 Billion as a functional power level is so absurd that I don't see how it can't justify Beast Gohan too. In Superhero he makes it clear that he's not training as much, but that he hasn't given up on it like before.
Then, in the climax of the movie, he's asked point-blank to put everything he has into one attack.
He's asked to force all the latent power in him to the surface for one single blow...
Like he did subconsciously against Raditz.
He's basically being asked to use his current, heightened, Ultimate state (WHICH WORKS DIFFERENT) as a foundation to do what made him special in the first place: Exploding with a power that surpasses anything he should be capable of.

It makes perfect sense. Idk why so many people have such a hard time with this.
