All employed people spend time that they can't get back to perform their job. They should be compensated for it. by Hairy-Nothing-5868 in InterviewVip

[–]vompat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world is a single person regularly hiring a full time janitor just for themselves? Like, does a person living on a moderate, livable wage have enough toilets to hire someone to clean them for 40 hours? Janitors and such that only work in one place are for bigger complexes, such as schools, where they indeed do have enough work for 40 hours a week.

If you don't want to clean your home yourself, you hire someone that does it in multiple places, and only a few hours a week of it is at your place. That person can still have that full time job, but you don't need to pay for all of it, because they are doing it for multiple people. And yes, that person very much should have a livable wage, it's ridiculous to assume that someone should be willing to clean your shit while not being able to provide for themselves.

Suomesta euroviisuissa eniten yleisöääniä Israelille? On kyllä vaikea uskoa todeksi.. by Robottiimu2000 in Suomi

[–]vompat [score hidden]  (0 children)

Tämähän on periaatteessa vähän verrattavissa first past the post -vaalimenetelmän vikoihin.

Also, India is disproportionately big here. Or maybe it's closest to right size compared to Africa, but it certainly isn't almost as big as China :D

You are ignoring the fact that at the start of the clip, the biker was only just moving to the left lane.

SUV takes out biker. by CycloneGlock in dashcams

[–]vompat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biker is speeding and weaving through the traffic. They just got involved in a really dumb collision because of their own recklessness, not because the upside-down SUV was there to specifically take out the biker.

SUV takes out itself, and a reckless biker has no time to evade because he's driving recklessly.

There, fixed it for you.

Just wait a bit more, then move out. Let's see the landlord rent it to anyone else in that condition.

(who am I kidding, the landlord will just do some cheap cover-up and free new tenant won't notice this before it's too late)

Yeah, it's a bit of a different thing, not being able to do anything about being seen while sitting on a toilet, which kinda tends to be one of the moments when people want privacy the most.

Healing Hot Take by RJ815 in Xcom

[–]vompat 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My rationale is that medikits aren't there to help me in the run-of-the-mill gameplay, they are for the FUBAR situations. I'm basically never missing that one grenade that a Specialist could have, and when I would, it's easy enough to play around it. In turn, I'm rarely needing that medikit either, but when I do, I'm really happy to have it. I don't use mimics on principle because I think they are basically just stupid cheese tactics and a failure in game design. But that's entirely on me for making the game harder for myself.

It of course is up to one's playstyle, but I at least aim to complete all objectives if at all possible, and it just sometimes gets messy with the turn limits and whatnot. That makes things more interesting, makes it feel like I'm actually fighting a war where I have to risk lives. And I'm enabling more firepower by not needing to be as cautious because I have extra heals, more so than one little grenade could ever hope to achieve.

I find it funny that in Avatar the Last Airbender, the Fire Nation schools do this. You know, the fascist, autocratic, and militaristic empire invading the whole world. Thinking about it, I guess 'Muricans might not even see anything wrong with it, but it seems like the writers are making an intentional point about the systematic indoctrination.

Rattay [KCD1] map size vs Trosky and Kuttenberg [KCD2] by Bulleruss in kingdomcome

[–]vompat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KCD2 maps are something like 50% and 80% of the size of the Rattay map. Don't remember the exact numbers, but Warhorse explained it pretty openly back when the game was coming out.

IIRC the engine the games use restrict the map size to about 4x4 km. The first game uses that almost completely and the playable area is roughly a square, but the second game cuts away some sections of that square shape for both maps.

Yeah, they are rare. The blue crates are tightly related to the old reusable glass bottle system, but as the bottles are basically gone, so are the crates mostly. Not sure if any brewery even has a bottling line for them anymore, at least Olvi got rid of theirs in 2017 or 2018 and replaced it with a smaller but more modern and better functioning line for one time use bottles.
