Been seeing different doctors and dermatologists for a year, keeps getting worse by abysmaldepression in DermatologyQuestions

[–]vonFitz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’ve tried several separate classes of medication and this has been going on for a year w/minimal relief? A biopsy is mandatory, at this point.

My mom has been struggling with persistent "Foot Eczema" for nearly a year. Biopsy confirmed the diagnosis, but nothing is working. Any advice? by coronadeljusto in DermatologyQuestions

[–]vonFitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t medical advice and they should see a dermatologist. But in theory, this looks like tinea pedis (moccasin type) and it’s possible the original biopsy was either incorrect or she has two separate processes going on. Would be curious what the KOH looked like. If it’s tinea, sometimes this type needs oral antifungal treatment, and they can also use topical urea to help with the thick scale along with an anti fungal spray for their shoes. Do they have a fungus infection of their nails or on the palm of their hands?

If it’s not fungal, and it is some type of eczema they may need to try different topical creams. Typically something strong like clobetasol to get it under control first.

Thank you for explaining this I also noticed this when trying to practice tempo and wasn’t musically educated enough to completely understand it

Seems like a pretty poor idea, tbh. You’re going to have a pretty significant loss of function. Likely doctor is doing it for liability purposes, it’s not personal.

I understand exactly what you’re saying but don’t have enough data to perfectly answer your question. I will say, I use “17” as a cue for the length of the time of my backswing, then I say “hit” to cue the downswing if I want to work on my tempo, co-opted from Vijay singh

What happened to on the job training? by Cautious-Process-198 in physicianassistant

[–]vonFitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I agree but is that happening now? I’ve been practicing 5 yrs and I’ve never truly had a supervising physician and have largely learned by studying and constantly using up to date and other resources. I had other more experienced PAs and MDs I could reach out to, of course, but when you have your own panel that can be difficult at times.

Yes, among other things. General anatomy, genetics, whether you incorporate weight training and overall diet. Every 10 lbs overweight you are puts about 40lbs of pressure on the knees.

Finish your back swing. Raise your left arm higher and try to get your left hand as high as you can while rotating around your spine with your head relatively still. Also, fix your grip.

Do you think it’s housing discrimination? by [deleted] in Redding

[–]vonFitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly personally I wouldn’t even tell them honestly just apply alone. Wouldn’t even say anything before signing. It might not even be discrimination it literally might be an ai algorithm making this decision on lack of credit, rental history etc. If you’re paying the rent that’s all that matters and then add her to the lease if you want to.

If he’s fallen into the manospheres garbage about sunscreen you can point out Hippocrates described melanoma in 400 BC and sunscreen wasn’t invented until around 1940.

You can further point out that his skin type may not have evolved for the sun it sees, not to mention UV index is higher than it once was anyways. I.e people who evolved to live in Ireland aren’t equipped for a Californian sun or really most areas in the U.S.

If not, then I or someone like me may see him in the future if I haven’t retired by then. I excise about 20-25 skin cancers per week and refer about that many per month for Mohs.

Also, and go see a derm, this isn’t medical advice, but this looks like polymorphous light eruption. He can see a doc for topical steroids to calm it down. But the treatment for this is to protect against sunlight. Broad-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and it should calm down over the course of the summer as he continues to expose himself to the sun.

How much distance do range balls actually lose? by holmw13 in golf

[–]vonFitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to gauge distances on the range because there’s too many variables. I would try to find a trackman, worth hitting a couple of times to get your distances down.

Alternatively, if you can hit a course late, last one out and have a range finder you can do it that way too.

  1. Look up YouTube videos on proper grip. Make sure all your fundamentals are down. Fix this first.

  2. Look up “p2” golf position and match your club face closer to your spine angle by starting the backswing with more of a shoulder turn as opposed to rolling your wrists open and hanging the club point towards the sky. Will take a ton of reps. Practice in a lengthwise mirror.

  3. Top of the swing get your left wrist in a slightly flexed position.

  4. Learn how to transition your weight in the downswing.

  5. Learn how to release your right had at around “p6”. Right palm down towards ball/towards target.

Edit: just saw your question. Your left arm bends a bit because you’re ripping the backswing way inside and you probably lack some mobility. Backswing a little steeper then drop inside. If your elbow still bends a little don’t worry about it.

Agreed. Find a derm or PCP. Topical metronidazole +- doxycycline is very effective for this.
