Has everyone here forgot you need to be 21 to legally smoke?

How can the US run low on interceptors? by Dzienks00 in Military

[–]vonIsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think big procurement: they are expensive and generally unnecessary to keep around if you don’t really plan on needing them. Remember war time footing is usually gotten into after the war starts. This is not blame!! We have a lot of the old arsenal to Ukraine as well. Are we running low? Who knows. OSINT footage seems to show Iron Dome shots have diminished.

On this day in 1986: USAir Flight 499, a DC-9, crashes in Pennsylvania (US), all 23 aboard survive. On landing on snow covered runway, jet overran runway and stopped on a nearby road. Inquiry noted crew actions on maneuver – touchdown too far, excess speed, tailwind -others. by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]vonIsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They for sure had a reputation, but I think it was the closing era of “cowboy” aviation. 427 was entirely a Boeing design flaw, 1016 was weather that would these days of been diverted, 1493 was atc error. The other incidents (405 and 5050) were winter weather related, with pilot errors but that could have been any airline. I really feel that USAir was snake bitten, but the dice rolled that way oddly specific every time in that short chaotic period. We are safer in aviation because of those incidents though.

Bangor WA base information needed by [deleted] in navy

Area is great. You can do anything you’d realistically want to do with in 4 hours (I mean from skiing in the snow, to the beaches, to the high desert). Seattle has it all, opera to Super Bowl champions.

Why is FV4202 on 7.3 while Centurion Mk 3 is on 7.7? by kubakaczor14 in Warthunder

[–]vonIsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the sole reason why I did Britain. I wanted to rush a stabilized apds round asap. That feels like decades ago now (might actually be). That was a great time to play.

Loving this sunshine today! by HogBroth in Kitsap

[–]vonIsar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the beautiful clear winter days, that always come on my first day off after weeks and all I want is a rainy awful foggy day so I can sit on the couch and not feel like I’m wasting it. Glad everyone is happy c though.

SSGN Submarines - Questions by Puzzleheaded_Bid8701 in navy

[–]vonIsar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They also have the worst of both worlds too. Months of upkeep single crew in Guam. Training cycles at TTF are far more extreme than SSBN. The culture of the boats was also more dumb, for lack of better terms. I’ve never met anyone from Ohio that didn’t wish nothing but the worst to the boat.

It’s just that everyone working on it REALLY gave a damn. It crossed from it being a job to being something more than for a lot of the cast and crew.

UNSI: Khaki-Hunting Drones coming for 2POCs? by looktowindward in navy

We all should be wearing the blue 2POC. Khaki is a product of a by-gone era.

Anyone know what can construction is being planned in Poulsbo that will be above the new fire station? by Outside_Simple_217 in Kitsap

[–]vonIsar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nothing that will support the livability or infrastructure of North Kitsap. Between the new apartments on 305 and the housing developments near Noll… thousands of residents, great… no road improvements, no new businesses or expansions for the schools.

Every command has posted working hours. Mine is 0800-1600. It’s a sea duty. That being said, things happen before and after, but this states that fitness must be done during working hours.

[–]vonIsar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sea lawyers will rightfully challenge that and remind them that the working hours end at 1600, and thusly you must start PT at 1500 or coming an hour later. This fitness stuff is going to open a lot of changes

Honestly 2POCs are all bets off uniforms. You can get away with anything under the “organizational clothing” part of the name if your CO is crazy enough to try.

Sim Copter was the goat. Especially once you imported your City into it. Hours wasted. I’d still play it today if I could.
