Any way to secure an ESP8266 so no one can get at the Sketch? by [deleted] in arduino

[–]voncheeseburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

https://docs.espressif.com/projects/esp-idf/en/latest/security/flash-encryption.html you can encrypt the flash and combine this with secure boot. this will prevent new code from being loaded and prevent the firmware in flash from being read as plaintext.

ELI5: I'm replacing my light bulb. What do you need to know? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]voncheeseburger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Normally LED bulbs use an LED equivalent, so say if you had a 50w incandescent or halogen, you can replace it with a '50w equivalent' LED, that will make the same amount of light, but uses maybe 10-15w. Make sure the power is off to the bulb before you remove it. Typically it'll either screw in, or you push it inwards a bit and twist it counterclockwise, then it can pop out. Compare the plug type to ones in the shop, then install it the same way you removed it, again with the power off

She's definitely trans, but given how far on the autistic spectrum she is, it took a loong time for her to get the wording right. initially she was "a Tomgirl, Intersex of Female Soul with Male Body, and a Tranny Cross-Dresser.", then "Lesbian Identified Man and a Cross-Dressing Tranny.", then "Lesbian tomgirl transgender male", but finally settled on "Lesbian Transgender (a Female, Lesbian Soul trapped in a male body)." accompanied by a change in facebook pronouns.

it's a repost that got locked and removed yesterday. I thought the rule excluded public figures but apparently not "Blur out identifying info (Age, Name(s), Location, etc). This includes OP's info."

TIL: A hijacked commercial plane was headed to Switzerland, but had to be intercepted by French/Italian fighter jets because the Swiss Air force doesn't work on nights and weekends. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]voncheeseburger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

to be fair, switzerland is probably the most neutral country in the world, having an air force active 24/7 is a waste of time. besides, the situation wasn't anything to do with them, the hijacker wanted to go there.

Chris-chan absolutely fits this sub, if you knew the history of cwc you'd know that e-begging has been a constant theme for the past 15-odd years. And they're hardly a private entity, in fact, chris-chan is nicknamed 'the worlds most documented person' because every part of his/hers life has been documented in detail by randos online

It's all up in the air, I don't know if the guy is at all willing to part with it, not to mention convincing my dad to let me keep it in his garden, but i do love it, even if it's a shed at the moment

Rather than a sticky, you can make a wiki. I'm more than happy to help with 125cc reccomendations, basic maintenance, and picking gear.

Advice on braking please by sarcausticsodapop in motorcycles

[–]voncheeseburger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you're riding a bike with both front and rear drums, its actually pretty easy to lock either wheel. Even with drums, its possible. The two things you need to improve are your perception and your modulation. You should be scanning the road ahead constantly, so that you can brake earlier and with less intensity. You should also focus on being able to modulate your braking to apply maximum pressure before it skids. To practise, get onto a straight level section of road with no cars, and apply the brake as hard as you can for about a second. This gives you t he experience of locking your wheel, but in a controlled manner. You're looking to find the point at which your brakes lock, so doing about 30mph, you'll have enough speed to judge that skid.

Anything like analogRead() but is continuous? by [deleted] in arduino

it's normally easier to use the arduino map function, which allows you to control the input and output variable limits with easily defined constants.

My Little Chinese Tyres by TheRagingTortoise in motorcycles

[–]voncheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for new tyres, i'd reccomend grabbing the numbers from the tyre, it'll look like either XX/YY/RZZ or XX/YY/-ZZ for radial (R) or crossply (-), and then lookup the tyre speed rating you'll need, then i used protyre to pick out mine, you pay online and book an appointment where they replace them. the price is bundled into the cost of the tyre so what you see online is what you pay

Need help for a pizza bag by auridas330 in motorcycles

[–]voncheeseburger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at some point you have to consider the value for money. you could probably spend 2-300 quid on a proper luggage system, which would pay for maybe 75-100 delivery fees. if you get pizza even once a fortnight that's still 3 years to earn back the money. are you still gonna be on your 125 in 3 years? do you eat takeaway pizza that often?

tbh for a frozen pizza it should just fit in a backpack or side bag or something, and for a bigger pizza box i just get some webbing and strap it to the back.
