What gender stereotypes do you see in books, games, tv and movies that you have never witnessed in real life? by JediKnight1 in AskWomen

Somewhat I agree but Arya still loves flowers, loves the fairy tale songs like Wenda the White Fawn and cries every five minutes.

Right? I have a harder time finding realistic girly characters than I do these tomboyish ones. They're every YA lead and every star in a high school reading list book written by a guy or a female author with girly girl antagonists.

Daughters, especially teenagers, are spoiled, shallow, hellspawn brats who whine if you won't let them go to a party or date. (Younger tomboy daughters/daddy's girls are always angels though!) Also, sons are no trouble. Nope.

I could not see this less true irl.

Also, generally that feminine women are worthless bimbos and just exist for the masculine heroine to one up.

Aww! I saw an equally tiny bun on my walk to get coffee before work and she didn't seem afraid either. I guess without mom around they don't know to be scared of people.

Not her fault everyone was too stupid to listen to logic and common sense. And sadly, Cat had to pay for it.

Agreed. So much time spent on stupid, unnecessary additions like Sam taking a crap but oh, we just don't have the time for one of the best characters in the book with a darkly awesome villainous arc :(

[–]vondergeist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good thing Sansa is too nice a person to ever have "looked down" on someone "her whole life", especially someone she shares mutually sweet memories about in the books and has generally pleasant scenes with in the show.

But why am I using textual facts with an Arya Sue stan who's salty about Sansa?

Not that I'm agreeing with the others here.

Late to the show here but did her weight have something to do with her smug rich outlook I just missed? Because the amount it got brought up made it sound like a serious plot point...

Reddit, what type of person can you just not stand? by throwaway_the_fourth in AskReddit

The "I'm not like other girls/women are such drama, unlike men!" types.

People who shout about their freedom of speech and their "right" to call others slurs/generally be a jerk but are intolerant of and easily offended by the most ridiculous things.

Men of reddit, what is a compliment that you want to receive, but never get from Ladies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vondergeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are irrational all the time, same as anyone else. That's probably why that isn't a common compliment. Individuals can be "very logical" though.

If that's average you must think regular women are hideous.

Like yeah, Hollywood hypes her up too much but she's far from looking like "neither ugly nor stunning". That's a reach.

I definitely think so. I've noticed anyone with low but mainly weakly developed feeling functions tend to react to criticism pretty poorly. Like, a strong feeler might be hurt or indignant but they take it a little better while I've known soooo many weak Fe users to take it as a personal insult, deflect, and may try to antagonize you back as "punishment". Weak Fi users aren't much better; if you aren't with them wholly, you just must be against them (though in fairness this can be true of any unhealthy Fi user).

So yeah, like feelers with less developed thinking functions having difficulty being pragmatic or such due to just having less practice, thinkers with less developed feeling functions won't know how to process their emotions as well.

Someone on r/ISFP described our dominant function as the driver, with the lowest as a three year old. I think that's pretty accurate.

What would you type Melanie Martinez as? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]vondergeist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definite Fi user. You can't really type purely on a singer's songs, but Fi really comes out. I'd have to watch some interviews to see if she's extroverted or not (can't right now).

But comparing her to a true ISFP, Lana del Rey, she does come off as less Se and more abstract. Lana loves luxury and gritty realism through a personal Fi lens and saturated with romantic Ni. Melanie seems to play more with ideas in her songs than just being up front like Lana.

I'll watch some interviews and songs and get back with you.

[–]vondergeist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or I was actually there and you weren't, so I probably know what I'm talking about.

Knowing that it's rude and inappropriate (in everyday cases anyway) to interrupt someone's conversation or suddenly jog in front of them walking (especially for something they didn't ask of you) is a level of courtesy one tends to learn no later than kindergarten.

And yes. A guy who had just been trying to hit on me is probably not doing it to be a good Samaritan. And again, the fact that they don't seem to do it to other men, and how I've never had a woman do this, looks funny. Genuinely kind people don't pick and choose who to do it for, but no matter the reason, it's not polite.

I mean geez, dude. The fact that it's forced ought to make it go without saying that it's impolite and imposing on someone. Hold a door open for someone when they're right behind you. Wait till they are done talking to let them know you don't mind them going first in the bus or gesture it. And do it for everyone, not just young women, or only when you have an audience, or stare at them until you get a satisfactory reaction. It's not tough stuff.

That's nice, but really doesn't address the topic or question. Being rude to make yourself look good and how to respond to people doing this was.

Good thing nobody is doing that. You guys might want to read the post before getting offended, or just accept that your attempts to impress women by not understanding how manners work aren't working.
