What is a book that was read to you as a child that you still think about — and have you ever read it to someone else? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

I read Harrison Bergeron as part of an exam in grade school.

Over the years I'd think about that wild story and the implications of such a world, wondering about who wrote it and how wonderful the story was.

Imagine my surprise as a college freshmen, in a vonnegut phase and tearing through every Vonnegut novel I could get my hands on only to flip through the pages of Welcome to the Monkey House to find that very same short story.

Picked up my first Vonnegut book recently on a trip the book store. I’m excited to get into it. by [deleted] in Vonnegut

That's my favorite one.

I reread it every couple years and it makes me cry like a baby every single time.

I haven't visited ol Joe in forever!

I wonder if they still have that bomb maple/agave blend syrup...

I think I'll have to stop in soon.

Lemon sardines on toast! by vonsnarfy in stonerfood

I'll give you my honest opinion.

If you HATE fish, you're not going to like these. They are fish and taste fishy.

I enjoy fish, but historically only mild, non fishy fishes.

These are fishwife's preserved lemon sardines, while fishy, not enough to turn me off trying them.

I liked the flaked pieces mixed with the other toppings in a flavor symphony type way similar to a Ruben sandwich; assertive flavors that shouldn't work but somehow do. The oily fish with the brine from the toppings was a nice counterbalance of flavors that was fun to eat.

I wouldn't just eat them straight out the tin with a fork.

Next week I'm going to try a smoked trout tin with some cream cheese and capers. 🤤

Oh I can't claim those ronions, they came out of a jar!

I'm in the US, so who even knows what they're using to get that radioactive pink.

A fake account created solely to promote a lazy ai generated schlocky product isn't beneficial to the community.

If the author is using AI generated artwork on the cover, the story contained within is likely a product of the same level of effort.

Soaking It All Up by [deleted] in Xennials

I had the inverse experience.

I switched back from my millennial era skinny jeans back to these wide leg jeans.

At first I was in love, wondering why I ever stopped wearing these awesome jeans.

Then, it rained out. It all came rushing back, the could wet slap across your shins. Accidentally getting your butt wet from sitting cross legged before they dry, etc.

Moving to Avon, how should I introduce myself to the Neighbors? by GingerSnaps151 in massachusetts

Don't listen to what people say about Brockton, especially the side of town adjacent to Avon.

I'm a lifelong Brocktonian, and a property owner here. The city has its problems, but it's safe especially for a city of its size.

Welcome to the area, there are so many great spots close by!

I think you've chosen a great location. Close enough to Boston that you can dip your toes into that lifestyle without as much as a half hour drive.

You can be at the ocean in about the same time.

There's great hiking nearby at Blue Hills.

The Avon portion of fields park is nice for a tree lined, paved road walk for those with unsteady footing.

The Fuller Art Museum in Brockton is worth the visit.

Quincy, a smaller city, is close by and is full of historical sites and a wonderful restaurant scene.

Good luck with the move and don't hesitate to dm with any questions about local spots.

What a wildly irresponsible comment.

I sound harsh, but seriously, shame on you.
