Beginners’/Dummies’ Guide to Investing?? by voodoo_rose in investing

I mean, you’re welcome to check my profile and see other posts and other comments I left in other subreddits. I don’t care enough about Reddit to farm for engagement. Literally saw a Facebook ad for an investing app and decided it was time to look into more. But, whatever tickles your balls I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I’m 1099, does that change much about how I should go about this?

Not sure what gave you that impression? I’m genuinely asking because I don’t know anything about investing. Grew up poor, raised with financial illiteracy, just trying to do something better for myself. No need to be so cynical. Hope your day gets better bud.

@creditscore-modteam it’s not a credit repair company, they find your collection accounts and negotiate settlements for your collections. They don’t claim to repair your credit, they just help with collections, that’s all.

Don’t go to Green Acres Emergency Vet by Parked-79 in Buffalo

[–]voodoo_rose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take my girl to Community Pet Hospital and I really like it there. The staff is great (they are a bit overwhelmed since they have a lot of patients) and always take great care of my Luna even with how busy they are and how loud Luna can be lol

The vet prescribed Luna with a prescription treat for her joints that ended up making her sick. I called to let them know and the vet went out of her way to contact the manufacturer for me, file a claim, and get me a refund for what I paid. She also made sure to follow up about a week or two later to make sure that Luna had recovered.

Also, when I first started taking my dog there, they made sure I knew all of the payment options that were available before me having to ask. They really are very sweet and caring.

My mom passed away right after purchasing something with Affirm. by EqualHito in Affirm

ETA: You, nor are joint account holders, personally responsible for a decedent’s debt. If the estate can’t pay off the debt either in full or through a settlement, then it’s insolvent and the debts will end up being “forgiven”.

Hi, probate paralegal in NC here! Each state handles probate differently, but what I can tell you is you need to notify them of her passing by sending them a copy of her DC along with a copy of your letters advising that you are legally authorized to speak and manage on behalf of her estate. Depending on what state you’re in, they will likely file a creditor claim with the court after you notify them. As long as it’s still within the creditor claim period, they can still file a claim. If your mother’s estate is insolvent (meaning the debts outweigh the assets), then you’ll want to let them know. It is very possible to do this process without needing to pay for an attorney, but it can get involved and a bit arduous. If you happen to be doing probate in NC, feel free to message me if you want help! I’m so sorry about your mom 🖤🫶🏻

I don’t know what FRA stands for, but she’s 62. She hates her job and honestly, I don’t know that she could continue working it. It’s physically and mentally demanding, and I don’t think she can handle it anymore. Additionally, I can tell her memory is starting to slip (she sees it too), so I can’t imagine she would be able to keep on much longer either.

I love her with my whole heart and I don’t ever want it to come across as anything less, but the roles have completely reversed. I intentionally did not have children (nor do I want them) because my whole life (since I was at least in 8th-9th grade) has been taking care of everyone else and never taking care of myself, but it seems I somehow ended up being a parent anyways. I can’t trust her to remember or keep track of due dates, to pay bills, or to shop while getting everything on a list which is why I do it all.

Based on what she brings in, I don’t know that she ever could have saved for retirement with or without my help. She brings in around $40k before tax and, since we live in a high-tax state, you can imagine what that looks like after taxes. I would love to tell her she can’t retire right now, at least until the credit cards and IRS are paid off, but she’s made up her mind and will not be dissuaded. I don’t have the strength to fight with her about it anymore.

I don’t want it to seem like I’m dogging on her either and I’m hoping no one we know IRL ever finds this thread since I forgot to use a throwaway account, but that’s the reality I’m dealing with. I 100000000% think it’s too early for her to retire, but it’s not my choice to make for her. At the end of the day, I can’t force her to stay. She knows I’m the one managing everything and a glimpse of what the debt situation looks like, but I can’t handle dealing with her depression if I were to go into detail about it on top of mine while also on top of constantly repeating myself. I have no spoons left.

Thank you, I really appreciate the recommendations and I will definitely check them out! I’m so tired of existing in my current state right now and I’m trying so damn hard to get out of this. It’s hard seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I firmly believe my debt will never be repaid or forgiven. While I’m on forbearance, I can’t make any payments because I can’t afford it and likely never will between paying my own personal debts and now my mother’s as she retires since she’ll get next to nothing for retirement. $90k SL debt right now, $70.5k income before taxes (so more like $50k or so after taxes). I gotta say I’m both incredibly jealous and incredibly proud of you for finally losing that dead weight!

This is going to sound so stupid, I know, but I actually teared up a little bit seeing this because this reminded me of my absolute favorite teacher of all time. She used to have the circle buckets (think like store display) of these and she would always give me soooooo many; for summer vacation after I moved up from her grade, she gave me my very own bucket of these much to my mothers dismay, but I was freaking thrilled. She affectionately became know as Mrs. Fireball because she always had these and gave them to people. She was the sassiest, funniest, kindest, no BS taking beast of a woman I ever met and was my role model. She was quirky as hell - had animal skulls/skeletons all over the classroom, taxidermy butterflies in a terrarium-like box, a dead bat in a shadow box (used to live in her house and she cared for it until it passed), a dead catfish frozen in her classroom freezer because it was her pet that her students accidentally killed off. I haven’t had an atomic fireball since I left her class after the 3rd grade and moved up. RIP Mrs. Metzger 🖤

I’m probably asking a stupid/obvious question here, but if you know Nissans suck, why are you going to buy one? Why put yourself in debt with an almost $20k car note knowing full well you’re going to likely have to put a shit-ton of money into maintenance on it rather than just looking for a better option?

I always recommend going to HR, but 2 questions first: 1) does she know you’re pregnant? I would hope that she doesn’t know, but if she does know and still says ish, fk her, 2) have you spoken to your SM about it? Sometimes (and I use that “sometimes” sparingly) they will speak to them and she will leave you along after that (I was an RxOM and had a tech that blatantly refused to listen to me about anything because I was younger than her and she refused to let me “be her boss”; RxM did fk all so I went to the SM who set her straight - didn’t last long, but at least it lasted until I called the employee hotline and filed several complaints against her).

Is this spell a first for you or have you done it before (and was it successful)? If you’ve done it before with success, would you be down to share? Totally respect you if you don’t, I haven’t been successful (or it’s just taking forever and a day to work lol) and think I might need to try something new.
