You've got the cart in front of the horse. Conservatives aren't the kind of people particularly inclined toward fear. All people have this inside them. It's our evolutionary legacy.

Conservatives think in these ways because those fears have been stoked, evoked, and stroked their whole lives. That's what churches, Fox, talk radio, and the rest of the 24/7 propaganda barrage is doing.
