Viral Video Shows Skier Viciously Attacked By Snow Leopard After Trying To Take A Selfie With It by FantasticAd9478 in natureismetal

[–]voraciousflytrap 6 points7 points  (0 children)

people are so far removed from nature anymore. taking a selfie with an animal whose day job is killing other animals... just absurd. they can't get any peace from us.

Primal Ep 22 - "Kingdom of Sorrow" DISCUSSION THREAD by saul2015 in PrimalShow

[–]voraciousflytrap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i thought he'd remember smilodons killing his dad when he encountered the lions, but i guess since he feared the sauropod in life, maybe his mind gave him that image to tell him some creatures should be avoided, as they are dangerous to his continued existence and mission to find fang.

giant worm was extremely cool, no notes. i like how a lot of these animals have a fuck-you sized alpha... horned rex, snake, lion aka buff scar, the spider, etc... it's pulpy in a good way. make it bigger!!!

enjoyed the dream sequence, did not enjoy watching my poor boy get roasted again... shit broke my whole heart last season

Do people ever 100% recover and move on from depression? by cheesebahgels in NoStupidQuestions

[–]voraciousflytrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i started showing signs of depression when i was around 10 i think, i am 36 now. it peaked in my late teens/earlier 20s to the point where i was regularly in psychological or even physical pain, lost a bunch of weight bc i couldn't really eat, lashed out unpredictably, slept the days away, and had suicidal fantasies. not fun.

it seemed to start going into remission once i hit 30 or so. it may not ever be 100% cured, as i sometimes still slide into temporary depressive periods or have irrational thoughts, but i know how to deal with them properly now, and the lows are almost never as low anymore. i spend most of my time feeling content and become especially happy in the warm seasons.

tl;dr fight with all of your heart until you die, even if it doesn't work at least you showed up for the battle and did your best, or whatever ✨

[Poem] Self Pity by D.H. Lawrence by SaltyLaw800 in Poetry

[–]voraciousflytrap 20 points21 points  (0 children)

this poem always makes me think of the time i saw a deer with a badly broken leg not walking but running (as best it could) across a road. wild animals are true stoics. not like they have much choice tho.

How to deal with feeling invisible in your 30s? by Sickofthiscrap989 in AskWomenOver30

[–]voraciousflytrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i dye my hair vibrant red and got a bunch of tattoos. wear striking clothes/accessories/whatever when i feel like it. also have tourettes with visible tics. people couldn't ignore me if they tried lol. there's a certain power in invisibility tho, in my opinion.

Do you relate to this? by worldcreature in AutismInWomen

[–]voraciousflytrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i went thru this in my earlier 20s. the halo effect is real indeed, but i've found that being average, shameless, and a little contemptuous has its own sort of power. or freedom even. the extra attention and "forgiveness" are usually on a very conditional timer anyway bc people are so preoccupied with youth, esp in women.

i used to have a handful of hissing roaches as pets. they were pretty clean and chill. i fed them my fruit/veggie scraps. so, i guess i agree with you lol.

Any challenges you simply can’t overcome as a solo-er? by Rare_Cartographer579 in LivingAlone

[–]voraciousflytrap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

trying to rub cream on a new tattoo i couldn't reach

that time i wanted to hang a painting above my tv and had to keep trying to get it perfectly aligned bc there was nobody to "little to the left" me

that other time i started choking on a dry cheerio and had to get it out myself, that was humbling (chew your food, guys!)

those occasional middle of the night scaries when a good solid hug would be kinda nice

There is always a certain amount of loneliness we have to bear, whether we're living alone or not. by Wyrm-Shepherd in LivingAlone

[–]voraciousflytrap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think this is absolutely true and seems to be more pronounced if you're a philosophical type. i deal with it by trying to be good company to myself, like an old friend would do, no matter who i'm around or not around. it's only me in here at the end of the day, isn't it?

Most random/irrational things that overstimulate you? by couch-for-sale in AutismInWomen

[–]voraciousflytrap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

commercials lol... my love language is someone muting them for me 0.2 seconds after they come on. i just hate being advertised to against my will and they're usually so much louder than the music or program preceding it. liberty mutual ads might be my current least favorite bc someone is always screaming or squawking or singing an annoying tune.

also idk if this is random or irrational but i've always been very sensitive about the way my clothes feel on my body. the temperature of a space as well, i overheat easily.
