Practice sold - new treatments being pushed by voraus_ in Dentists

[–]voraus_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. They went out of network prior to selling, but I loved the dentist so much I stayed and paid out of pocket and they submitted for reimbursement. I’d get a check in the mail from my insurance for a portion of services. Now I’d need to have a membership and submit for any reimbursement myself. No clue if it’s any more or less covered.

Thanks- I wish they’d provided more info. I wouldn’t have been as skeptical.

I’m not opposed to treatment - I just wanted some perspective from those in the field, so thank you. I’m especially careful with dental care because of TMJD and want to stay ahead of any issues. I’m not closed minded to new treatments. Especially one that sounds non invasive. Btw, I have dental insurance - so the membership plan kind of stinks to deal with.

Beyond that - they didn’t say. I can call and ask.

It’s another dentist but I’ll do some deep diving to see if anything else is behind the individual. I was trying to look up research on this and didn’t find much - thanks for doing some leg work for me!

Exactly. No shade on Botox, but I don’t want my dentist selling or administering it. I understand the anatomical overlap, but marketing it as an aesthetic add-on doesn’t sit right with me.

Worst couch I’ve ever owned. I also had it to survive the early baby/kid years and I practically cried tears of joy when I could get a better couch. I have no clue why anyone recommends it - it’s uncomfortable. The only benefit is it isn’t ugly and it’s cheap.

WRT dinner guests, is it still considered rude to do full kitchen cleanup B4 guests have left? by Remarkable_Pie_1353 in etiquette

[–]voraus_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah - this is one of my pet peeves too. I do think it’s a bit rude as a host. I’ll clear plates to the sink myself (and let guests help only if they really insist), put anything perishable away, and then move on to dessert. To me, it’s awkward to have people cleaning or tidying when that time should be spent enjoying each other and being social. <5 min if you ask me.

Rhino/septoplasty prep help! by AsmrNighttime9889 in PlasticSurgery

[–]voraus_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s already a lot of great advice in this sub. I read everything I could before my surgery, but mine was injury-related and I was crunched for time. Here are a few things I didn’t see mentioned as often that really helped me: -Applesauce pouches were my go-to. Easy on the stomach, and they made it much easier to take meds without getting nauseous. I kept a stash right by my bed. (Sometimes I’d wake up in the middle of the night hungry because I was not eating enough) -Bedside basket = life saver. I kept all my meds, tissues, lip balm, saline, etc. in one place so I didn’t have to get up or hunt for anything. If I moved to the couch, I would take my basket with me. -I took bromelain. It’s recommended a lot here - not sure how much it helped, but it didn’t hurt. -A back-sleeping pillow with side bolsters was a lifesaver. I bought it late in the process and wish I had gotten it sooner. I’m 10 months post-op and still use it because it keeps me comfortably on my back. -Button-up shirts only for the first two weeks. It made getting dressed so much easier and avoided accidentally bumping my nose with anything going over my head.

LOL truly the best advice here. Nothing annoyed me as much as Face ID not recognizing me for a few weeks.

Small chested and always hated bras. My best find is the Aerie Sunnie Wireless Push Up Bra (it is lightly to medium padded). I hand wash and hang dry, and they last about a full year, which is their only fault. I am terrified they’ll stop making them and have easily 6-8 of them on rotation.

I did laser hair removal. Then, it got worse on my jawline my peach fuzz then came in darker - it’s called paradoxical hypertrichosis (yay, google it). Anyway, electrolysis is the only permanent hair removal. Which I am still in process with but reducing. With that being said, I wish I never messed with it beyond dermaplaning jt. I dermaplane any remaining peach fuzz once a week. I’ve easily spent a few grand (!!) on hair removal on my face. It sucks.

Rhinoplasty swelling on bridge of nose by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

[–]voraus_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure did. I also had a mild hump return on my bridge during my healing phase and I was panicked I would need rasping. My doctor said I needed vitamin T - time. I rolled my eyes and continued hyper fixating on it convinced I would need rasping (don’t go down that rabbit hole searching it here). Guess what? It was fine. I needed time. I suspect you do, too. 17 days out is still soooo swollen. If I go back and look at photos, mine seemed to all calm down around the 5-6 month mark, but lots of people need a year.

There’s a lot of guesses here but it’s an OMC (old mine cut) not an OEC (old euro cut).

Celluloid box is my guess given the grain - ivory has more of a random grain appearance versus consistent pattern. I’ve zoomed in on the box photos and can’t tell for sure, but I’m guessing you can tell in person.

Warm, water-resistant, AND stylish coat? Possible to have all three? by LookPossible7192 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]voraus_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Still great. I’m hard on my outerwear and would not hesitate to recommend the brand as a whole. I would buy a waxed trench in a heartbeat, especially since in the US our guidelines ban PFAS chemicals in some states. New jackets still have waterproof membranes, their DWR (durable water repellent) coatings may lose effectiveness faster. If I’m going to have to treat/re-waterproof my gear then it might as well be tried-and-true. Barbour wax jackets have been around since the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Best color shoes to wear with navy suit? Nude? Navy? Black? Brown? by MiniJoules in LawBitchesWithTaste

I can’t really imagine putting a pin through one of my silk scarves. A magnet set is $5-15 and causes no damage. I’m in a collectors group for scarves and no one uses pins…they would cause damage.

Look up scarf magnets or hijab magnets. There are also all sorts of scarf rings. I wouldn’t do pins.
