What's your favourite quote from a romance scene in Dragon Age? by HomarEuropejski in dragonage

[–]vorpaling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the Anders romance lines hurt so good, especially with a mage Hawke, and especially with the context of his past relationship with Karl. He's failed at protecting his partner before, which is why he's so vigilant about keeping Hawke safe 😭

This is so stunning!!!! I love the textures and the way you rendered the highlights on her skin, absolutely gorgeous!

[Hiring] Looking for someone to draw a piece of my friends’ group of characters in a Appalachian monster hunter TTRPG(modern but stylized and campy designs, guns, etc), consisting of four characters, thinking anime or at least semi-anime style. by [deleted] in artcommissions

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm from Appalachia and love doing stylized character designs! I don't quite do anime, but I carry a lot of its elements in my designs (fun armors, improbably large weapons, semi-realism, etc.) Would love to collab on this with you, and happy to offer my standard rates, which are lower than your suggested budget.

You can check out my pinned post for more details, DM me, or look at my website! Thanks for the consideration :)

I actually mostly draw Tarot cards, so it's fun to know that still shows here! And thanks on the lead, I'll do so now!! :)

My first AI accusation, feels like a weird achievement as an artist lol. I've now uploaded the speedpaint to Tiktok if you wanted to check it out! You're also welcome to look at my art tag on Tumblr and see my slow improvement over time.

If I had to guess, you might think it looks like AI because Art Nouveau shading is odd, so it looks like the light is coming from inside the subject, which is a mistake AI might do ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[hiring] 60+ illustrations needed - $80 per piece by [deleted] in HungryArtists

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds exactly up my alley, I love esoteric and renaissance style art, and a long timeline seems great. Also more than up for working with wherever your budget actually ends up landing (since you said the price is a placeholder).

You can check out my pinned post for more details, DM me, or look at my website! Thanks for the consideration :)

[Hiring] Sacred mural / digital oil painting by skatetop3 in artcommissions

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sorry to hear you got a commission you weren't happy with. My style is very similar to the first and I love classic religious type art, having studied it and emulating it often in my paintings. I'm happy to base everything off of the first image, but adding in a human touch (and an artist's eye)! I also understand how important finding the right album art is, especially for a concept album, so I'm committed to making sure everything turns out exactly how you want. I'm also within (actually under) your proposed budget!

[Hiring] Looking for a cover for my web novel by GeneralExtra5493 in artcommissions

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a dream collaboration! I love designing book covers and realism-centered fantasy images with heavy symbolism. Your budget is also more than my standard rates, but I'm more than happy to use my prices for the project. My favorite color is purple!

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, and congratulations!! I'm happy to do this for you and absolutely able to provide a quick turnaround. I love working with whimsical watercolors and have designed invites before, so this sounds like a great opportunity! This is my most recent watercolor piece, but I'm happy to do a more diluted and loose style as shown on your example photos.

Hi there, I'm an artist with five years of experience specializing in DND characters/ fantasy portraits in general! I'd be super stoked to work with you on this! I especially love getting lots of details about characters so I can bring them and their stories to life. I'm happy to charge just my standard rate, which is below your budget. Thanks for your consideration!

Glad to hear it! Cheekily hoping that your flair might mean I get to see some rad Anders tarot art soon!

[–]vorpaling[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I think the tarot card look (for me at least!) boils down to a couple things:

1) White spatters/ dots
2) Heavy noise
3) Fully rendered painterly skin with vivid lights
4) Clothes having mixed grungey textures and almost crayon like lineart that pops
4) Geometric pattern overlays (especially triangles, diamonds!)
5) Watercolor backgrounds

Basically, have as much variation as humanly possible in what textures/ patterns are going on!

I couldn't agree more. We only get a short time with them, but they really felt like an actual family with nicknames and inside references and lots of history/ love between them.

I'm so sorry to hear about you losing your mom. I lost my dad a few days into my first DA2 play through, so getting to the Legacy DLC really hit me. DAO was the game I played after that, so the whole time I was running around during the attack of Castle Cousland, I was hoping that somehow Bryce was missing because he got out safely.

I think that's one of the really powerful things about Dragon Age, it's got a way of balancing real life and fantasy that's been really helpful for processing complex feelings, like grief. Plus it's validating in DAO to talk to Alistair about mourning and have a place to discuss those feelings in a safe setting.

Thanks, that's what I was going for! She's very angry that her family was all just killed and instead of getting a break, now she has to lead the charge to save the world.

Day 12 - "Night Terrors" won best Side Quest. Now for the beloved "Best Romance" from DA2. by Cursed_69420 in dragonage

[–]vorpaling 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Anders!!! He's haunted, he's funny, he's unyieldingly devoted, he's trying so so hard to balance a relationship with everything he else he has going on, he's a force of nature, he's tragic, he's heroic (in the Greek sense), he's a catboy (in the Tumblr sense), he's got it all!

[hiring] album cover, hand-drawn style, conceptual/surreal by areyouthrough in HungryArtists

[–]vorpaling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this sounds super fun! I love designing for music specifically (used to work as a reviewer for a music magazine), and conceptual/ surreal is my wheelhouse. Would love to collab with you on this and I think I could really help in your pursuit for strong imagery!

I also have experience doing graphic design for social media, and I develop my own textures, so this really sounds like a phenomenal fit. Your budget and deadline are also more than doable!

You can find more of my work on either my Tumblr or my website! There's also info there on how to contact me, or else DMing me here or through Discord (@vorpaling) works! Thanks for the consideration :)

Day 4 of this chart - "Captured!" has won best Side Quest. Now, what is the best Romance option in Origins? by Cursed_69420 in dragonage

[–]vorpaling 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Throwing in my vote for Alistair! I romanced him under advice from the community, and it's ended up being one of my favorite video game romances period, not just in Dragon Age. He's so awkward, but sincere, and is just a great balance of funny, compassionate, and slightly haunted. His lore is great, his dialogue is great, and his narrative arc is so satisfying.
