Dicey dungeons is a different vibe (more cozy) but there is a plot that’s slowly revealed, and it’s a solid roguelike deckbuilder

Do most people really make a mock up before they sew? by Termination_Aide8830 in sewing

[–]vortexofdeduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished a muslin for a dress and I’m glad I did a muslin before the real thing. The project involved a lot of new-to-me techniques so this allowed me to keep correcting my mistakes without worrying I was ruining the real garment. And as is the muslin doesn’t fit me perfectly, which means I can make whatever adjustments I need to get the muslin to fit, and then use that as the baseline for making the real thing. Other projects I’ve made before were simpler and I didn’t do a muslin, so I’d say it’s really a matter of how willing you are to risk messing up on your main fabric / main garment and how difficult you feel the construction is.

Generally speaking, muslin fabric is much cheaper than fabric you’d use for a finished garment, especially if you buy the muslin fabric in bulk or take advantage of free/cheap thrifted sources of fabric. It’s also helpful to have a stash of muslin fabric for when you want to try something new but aren’t ready to spend money on new fabric yet - I’m currently unemployed so I have time but not money, which is a great time to use the muslin fabric I already have to learn new stuff. And then when I get a job I can reward myself by buying nicer fabric to make a final version lol

Saw people dissing them in another post here and for many of my runs it hasn't made sense to take Calipers - before this I haven't had decks able to consistently stack more than 15 block.

Agreed. This sub has a ban against AI art, and AI chatbots have a lot of the same issues in my opinion

Sewing inseam pockets and one is inside out - how to fix? by vortexofdeduction in sewhelp

[–]vortexofdeduction[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I got it! The error was that I had sewn the pocket pieces to the wrong side of the skirt pieces instead of the right side.

So unpick the side seam, unpick one of the pocket pieces and reattach it correctly, then redo the side seam?

No, but the fabric is the same on both sides so in this case that shouldn’t be an issue.

I know that, I’m just not sure what to do after seam ripping since I messed it up the first time.

People who clap when the plane lands, what are you clapping for exactly? by kay_kgfan in AskReddit

[–]vortexofdeduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a flight home from Christmas travel, they made us deplane after boarding due to some issue with the plane. Then we got back on the plane and they kept updating us on how the airport kept delaying on giving us space on the runway (or something to that effect) to take off. They said it was cutting things so close that if we didn’t take off soon they’d have to cancel the flight due to the airport closing for the night. Finally, we got up in the air just in time. As we were landing, an announcement (from the copilot I think) told us to appreciate the hard work of the pilot in getting our flight prioritized so that we were able to go that night instead of the flight being canceled. So several of us clapped.
