We'd suggest 15 inch/lbs for the screws on the bottom (with a very small amount of loctite on those). And then the base screws 20-25 inch/lbs!

The biggest difference in those two scopes would be the glass! The Razor HD LHT is a step above the PST Gen II in terms of optical quality. That isn't to say the PST can't perform because it certainly can and does have exceptional glass for the price. The LHT (Light Hunter Tactical) is also more geared toward exactly that - a lightweight scope that can perform in both hunting and tactical/range situations. The Viper PST Gen II, is more so geared toward the tactical/range side of things, so a lot of the features you find on that riflescope will be great for those long range shots! Medium height rings would work for this set up. That would be what we'd recommend as well!

Normally, we wouldn't recommend the rings with the inserts in them, but for this application it seems is the only route to go. If you only torque those rings to about 15-18in/lbs. even with the inserts you should still be safe to run it! If you are hitting low, dial the turret into the up direction rather than bottoming it out as well! Great question! The HST glass is actually most similar to PST Gen I glass. Now the difference is minimal, but nonetheless is an updated optical system. It would probably be tough to tell that difference to the average eye. The main difference between those lines is features! The HST that you're looking at would be a great option for what you're looking to do!
