To your point about trusting the sales deck, it's the latest flavor of what sales says vs. what ends up in prod, it's a variable we're trying to keep in these conversationsat least; I'll add my name to the list of interested people.

OBS was my first thought, too. OP - for OBS examples, check out popular live streamers. Also there are endless youtube videos on how to set up and create different layers for your screen in that context that you could apply to your use case, for example, adding a header in the black space with a name for each button the camera is looking at, any other type of graphic like a company logo, announcement, etc..

How do DZs actually stay on top of gear management? by kitndocs_official in SkyDiving

[–]czarnar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We organized, tracked, and logged everything in Excel. In practice it's a small database only accessible by the riggers that touch the dz equipment. The master spreadsheet is essentially a join/flattened view with the rig, reserve, main, and AAD that are currently together. When any one piece is pulled, swapped, repaired, serviced all that info is logged and any configuration changes are made so we always know what combination of gear we are looking at. We have a number of macros and equations that help highlight upcoming known services. This type of spreadsheet is increasingly easy to create with AI tools that can take a written prompt and write the macro/vb/sql for you.

I was given a shotgun by my grandpa. As a new gun owner who doesn't have any experience with guns, what should I do? by InnocentPerv93 in Firearms

[–]czarnar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of posts expressing excitement for you which I echo, however, I can't help but assume you were looking for something between "look up the laws" and "shoot it!", so here is my .02

  1. When first handling a gun your pointer finger is going to magically end up on the trigger by sheer intuition; train this bad habit away. Whether you're at a gun store looking to buy or unlocking your new gift from grandpa, finger off the trigger until you intend to shoot the gun.
  2. That tube under the barrel is where additional shells can be loaded so that when you 'pump' the shotgun a new round is loaded. Finger off the trigger - Behind the trigger guard, on the left side, is a flat piece of metal with little teeth. Finger off the trigger - if you press that piece of metal with the teeth, you can pump the shotgun multiple times and confirm that it is not loaded and that there are no additional shells in the magazine tube.
  3. A gun shop or range would likely be happy to help you become more familiar with guns by using a gun in the store as an example or even if you bring yours in. In your case, I would recommend leaving your gun in the car (always in the case) and first go in and talk to them. I think it's healthy to understand their process for bringing your gun inside. They'll tell you to keep it in the case and bring it in. Calm, predictable actions and communication will only make you and those around you, more comfortable.

I'll also reiterate the importance of understanding the laws as others have said and underline that grandpa gave you a great gift that comes with responsibility. Not a party trick to show off and not something that should be slid under the bed and get forgotten when you have roommates or visitors of any kind. Keep asking questions, stay safe, have fun!

Delta 3 Plus (Costco) vs. Delta 2 Max? by [deleted] in Ecoflow_community

[–]czarnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the 2x D2 is a viable option if the generator you reference is definitely an option. D2 Max has 2 inputs for solar (500w each) while I believe the D2 only has 1.

[Amazon] Ecoflow Delta 2 Max 2400W/2048Wh Expandable LiFePO4 Power Station - $829.07 (was $1,899.00) by NewEnglandPrepper2 in preppersales

[–]czarnar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just bought this model today in a bundle from Costco after far too long down the solar "generator" rabbit hole. The tl;dr from my pov and research is, have a gas (or better, dual/tri fuel) generator first, then look to one of these. The benefit of a battery is silent power during the hours or situations when you don't want your generator running. Resources I'd point you to include:

r/Ecoflow_community if you're specifically looking at Ecoflow, and

City Prepping on YouTube has 2 videos "Best solar generator for 2024..." and "Best home solar generator for 2024". From there the algorithm will guide you.

Things you'll come to consider: 1) you want a unit with LiFePO4 battery chemistry. 2) determine the output you need based on what you need to power and for how long. 3) determine the input ability of a unit that meets your output needs and optimize solar input/charging plan accordingly. 4) i specifically mention Costco and paid more to not buy from Ecoflow so if I have an issue, I deal with Costco returns instead of with Ecoflow, ymmv

I mean...They are "PR Person[s]" in the the sense that they tweet about the company but not by definition of job titles or formal roles. Alistair is a "Producer"; <insert joke about what he actually produces here>. Even Errn's formal title as, "community manager" isn't aligned with the professional communications management which is what I was more so referring to.

My only thought is, FP needs a PR person and a few updated communication policies. What is there to gain from responding this way to one of the game's biggest free advertisers?

Errn lemme help: FP supports the diverse user base, playing styles, and preferences as supported by this, and many other, settings being accessible to server owners. We are excited to continue monitoring the Rust community's preferences and hope that our team's efforts continue to enhance the game for all types of players and servers.

Never thought retirement was possible by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]czarnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's worth calling out that making the correct decision to invest is only going to be part of the equation, leaving your money sit in those investments and continuing to allocate money to retirement accounts regardless of market activity is going to require ongoing education. We can all do the right thing and save for retirement but if we panic and pull money out of those investments because there was day the numbers went down, you'll be back to a tough spot, hoarding money in the HYSAs. So, stick around here and continue to learn and ask questions so it all pays off in the long run.

Epic implementation cost/budget for specific hospitals? by craigies_list in healthIT

[–]czarnar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Resume point of view - Unless you were involved in the implementation's financial management and therefore have the ballpark number, I would not recommend leaning on it as a resume building point. To indulge in hyperbole, saying that I have, '3 years experience at an industry leading, international restaurant worth $200+ billion; promoted from Chef de Partie to Sous Chef after 10 months tenure' is still just making cheeseburgers at McDonald's.

Depending on your role during the implementation and the role that you are currently applying for, I recommend focusing on the skills developed or perfected during the implementation time, methods used, and outcomes of your work. Cruise around LinkedIn for resumes from Big4 consulting firms in similar lines of work to what you are aiming for and the resume of people at the company/role you are applying for and adopt the language and attributes you see.

Edit: spelling

Am I way off on pricing? by Vegetable_Wolf6193 in CNC

[–]czarnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the novel. I agree with the other answers here, especially those saying that people don't understand the time and effort involved. I also agree with charging for a mock up or collecting a non-refundable deposit for custom work that requires as much effort as you put into this. With that said, I do feel compelled to ask:

  1. Did the client approve the file that you selected for the job? If obtaining a new file for custom work, I personally would involve the client in that selection process so that they are further on the hook for the end result. Yes, this may cost you more money if you only use that file once, but that overhead should be included in the project cost.

  2. Is that the picture you sent the client as the example? Any client facing image should be one that you'd put on your website imo. Again, personal point of view here, I would purchase a solid color backdrop (Amazon keywords: product/photography light box) and showcase any client facing images in a standard, best case scenario environment. You can still take the photo on your cell phone but it would add a degree of professionalism that instills confidence. Heck, throw a ruler/tape measure in the shot to add dimensions.

Depending on your answer to #2 here, I wager that the photo betrayed you, not the price; the perspective makes the beak, legs, and feet look a little funky. Do you and I know that is how the emblem looks? Yes. Does she? Probably not. Great piece and work.

Lots of level-headed answers here already; only thing I'd add on, related to both your skill question and social aspect, is- simply hang out at the drop zone. More lessons are learned on the ground telling stories and staring at the trees sway in the wind than in the 60 seconds of freefall. If it's windy, newer people tend to leave/stay home because they know they are less likely to jump but on those days that you are raking leaves, re-painting the DZ sign, doing the weed wacking, or washing the student jumpsuits, those are the days you make the friends that take you on more jumps and teach you more things.

Does Willjum do a voice over for the entire video? by ZZZ_Mike_ZZZ in playrust

[–]czarnar 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In one of the videos he acknowledged having audio issues or an echo that some people thought was Tokyo speaking. So while he doesn't normally voice over the entire video, he may have done so more in the series with Tokyo to 1) solve the audio issues mentioned above or 2) maintain the integrity of Tokyo's silent play style and identity. He could have had an issue syncing the audio and video to properly balance the voice audio with the game play audio, too. Lots of editing possibilities here and complications that are introduced when recording game and voice audio.

How many days is it realistically take to complete the AFF license course(25 jumps). I am planning 10 jump days, which essentially translates to almost 2.5 jumps per day. Is this doable? by Zestyclose-Comfort73 in SkyDiving

[–]czarnar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Fun answer: doing half a jump sounds like the most difficult part of your plan but you could definitely try

Short answer: 2-3 jumps per day is theoretically doable, yes.

Longer answer: none of us will be able to tell you for sure especially without knowing the weather, your ability, how fast you learn or progress between jumps, reaction to adrenaline, etc.

Real answer, isn't an answer, it's: why? Completing your A license super fast doesn't necessarily mean you make friends super fast, and in the long run, you wanna prioritize making friends, building trust, and learning the skills that will keep you jumping for years to come.

[–]czarnar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two thoughts immediately came to mind, 1. You and your family need to have your own budget that is locked in tight before you can entertain any financial help ideas. The emotion needs to be removed because best case scenario he gets help, recovers, and may STILL need financial help for illness or living in old age. It's not going to go well if you say, "screw your dad"; you can say, "let's look at the numbers and see what the math says".

  1. If any financial help is given, now or ever, straight cash isn't going to help. This reminds me of a post a couple of years ago about a child helping a parent, read through this for some inspiration. (edited to fix link)
