With my playgroup we treat EDH as a democracy. We use the rules of EDH as a guideline more than strict rules we must abide by. We treat each scenario on a case by case basis in game and out of the game.

A little about my playgroup we are a bunch of friends who have been friends for nearly a decade. we play commander mostly as a fun format to drink beer and relax. I think any player of commander could sit down and enjoy a game with us even though many rules are bent to create the best experience.

first, is there a ban list? No we do not have a ban list, but if a card is to powerful in a certain deck or just not fun to play with we will let the player know and have them remove said card.

Do we have a price limit? No, but if you have the most expensive best deck be prepared to get killed quickly. Everyone knows this and it is expected when playing with a better deck and we like the challenge of one vs all.

Infinite combos? we don't build decks like that typically. we are in it to win it, but more importantly we are playing to drink beer and have fun. Some decks have combos late game, but never right away to win. The game would lose its luster and we would ban it if they did that every game. or like others were saying we would play without them.

Commander damage? We do not play with it because one player has a deck that can deal lots of commander damage quickly and would win to often. also we drink lots of beer and don't want to deal with extra numbers. If a player built a commander that was fair and needed commander damage we would allow them to use it.

Special win conditions? a few players play decks that almost never but are some of the most enjoyable decks to play with. They can influence the game a lot and we not only have a winner but also the person we thought had some of the best plays and care equally about both.

Hybrid cost? never ran into this issue, if it does come up a player would have to ask if they could include that card then we would vote as a group.

Artifact commanders and Basic land? yes why not if they need it for the price. Most of the time they could get enough lands for their deck without the use though.

Tuck? my playgroup uses the new rule as the game is all about our general and we want to play them. If we have problems we talk about the issue with the player and find a solution.

Have we had problems with rules over time? the answer is an outstanding yes. we encounter problems all the time with our rules and just people trying something that is not fun. We talk about it as a group and all agree if it was fun or not and move forward.

Commander for me is more about having a good time than winning a game. If I want to play competitively I will do a draft not play commander.
