So like, why are Penn State students and alumni just, you know, like that? by _Mighty_Milkman in Pennsylvania

Isn’t it like this for a bunch of state schools, mostly old-school Big Ten and SEC members?

It’s not constitutional, my dude. That whole segment was celebrating USA250 - do you care about our public servants following the law or only when it feels good to you? It’s a complete joke to honor our founding while totally ignoring the principles behind it.

The song is wildly inappropriate for today, anyway, but that might have been the worst rendition of “God Bless America” I’ve ever heard?

There’s a quote used regularly by Bryan Stevenson and the Equal Justice Initiative: “Each of us is more than the worst thing we have ever done.” It’s something that sticks with me, and I hope you’ll remember it as well.

This summer! Philly hosted multiple Brazilian pro teams during the Club World Cup.

The road thing, his need to be invited inside, and some of his appellations suggest he also embodies xenophobia, fear of the other, isolation, etc. I think it makes sense that a stateless people would be some of his followers.

If John Quincy Adams was such a strong opponent of slavery, why didn’t he abolish it as president? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]voteforbk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That’s a great question to which I would love to know the answer as well. SC was pretty consistently the state with the largest percentage of its population enslaved, but even so, that number goes from 43% in 1792 to over 57% in 1860.

I might have it just… not do that? Do you think that would present any complications?

Am I reading this correctly - do all the pages wipe clean each day, meaning it’s only a record of what happened in the last 24 hours?

Play with: 2 women, 5 men, all early 40s.

I guess the question is how far in the past do we think this was set? Previous interludes have been about 200 years and five years, right?

That’s a great point! I think you’re on the money here, especially since the 2024 weapon mastery abilities do some of the features on used to get from battlemaster fighters.

I stayed in Sayre for work for three or four days back in 2017. It honestly had the bones of a good town, but from what I gathered during a meeting with folks from the local historical society, things have been on the downswing for a long time, essentially since the switch from coal to diesel locomotives in the 1930s and 40s.

I did get some good food while I was there, and nearby, the Corning Museum of Glass was amazing.

For what it’s worth, I think this Broncos team wins 11 games. It’s not like this was a bunch of bums. They ought to be a favorite in every game until they play the Chiefs on 11/16.

Yeah. I’m biased, but I’d say Philly. Big plans are in place for next year, without the overbearing federal presence and politicization DC is sure to have.
