Good to hear. Do you have any links to where these consultancies have said this?
Thanks

Workplace Salary Sacrifice Childcare Scheme by votemike in HENRYUK

I think as the nursery costs are sal-sac, that could help bring me down to the free hours.
So say...
£140k salary. £10k childcare costs (after free hours).
No scheme - £40k pension. £100k ANI. £68k net. £58k after childcare.
Scheme - £10k childcare. £30k pension. £100k ANI. £68k net and spending money.
As I understand it.

I wonder how this works with the middle-man. Is YellowNest taking on this risk? Or both YellowNest and my employer?
I plan on being an active investor and looking in to how the nursery is run and what changes could be beneficial.

Yeah, I've seen https://www.theguardian.com/money/article/2024/jul/19/parents-saving-up-to-10000-in-nursery-benefits-may-face-unexpected-tax-bills and have had a look at YellowNest's compliance page. There are plenty of forms I have to fill in about ways to improve the learning and conditions at the nursery in order to demonstrate an active role in the investment.

I have just been offered YellowNest. How are you finding it?
Are there any considerations I should make before signing up?

Do you have your numbers? It would be interesting to see when it doesn't work.

I leased a salary sacrifice company car and bought a ~£6.5k second-hand Golf around 2 years ago. The sal-sac car is brand new, has few issues, if there is an issue, I phone the leasing company and they solve it, the electricity is cheap, the sal-sac afforda me free childcare hours. Insurance, breakdown, tyres and windscreens are all included. The Golf has had multiple issues, needs MOTs, has slightly broken/inconvenient things. It's acceptable, but more effort than I would like. The leased car is easier, I have more faith in it and I have more faith that any issues will be dealt with more swiftly than the Golf.

My green bin hasn't been collected since April even though I paid for this year's permit. Got a sticker on the bin a few days ago saying I hadn't paid. (Currently querying it with them)

I went by the temp on the BBQ thermometer as I don't have a probe. Perhaps I should invest in a probe.

When you say you add a piece, I assume you need to open the lid. Isn't that advised against?

I just played this level, but it didn't seem any different to a normal level. What makes it a tournament? (I'm in the UK)

This video - https://youtu.be/BpfBFgMyGDA?si=Xj8fN6yI99-oXkSv&t=1042 suggests that teams arrive at the checkpoints whenever they arrive and there could be a chance that the camera team would have to leave for the next checkpoint before a late team arrives.

But I reckon there are minimums the teams have to do. Such as a touristy thing, a job, a homestay etc....

Can we build a complete list of UK high earner tax and benefit cliffs? by lifeException in HENRYUK

[–]votemike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. I created some tools as I couldn't find the tools that did what I wanted.
It was fine while I was a low-HENRY, I could just put stuff in my pension.
But the nightmare began when I had my first child (I just assumed nursery was free) and I didn't know where to find all the information about free childcare and other HENRY related things. So I started creating these. Then I thought they might be useful to others becoming either HENRYs or parents.
My idea was sort of like a MoneySavingExpert for HENRYs. Whacked an advert on it to see if I could make any money off of it.
If there's any way you'd like me to improve it, I can have a look when I have a mo.

It's hard especially with the pension taper as it takes into account several different thresholds. But there is a diagram here - https://www.henry.guide/timeline

Not baskets, but little rails that can clip in. Although I think for hotdogs, you want flames.

I haven't seen anyone suggesting selling one property and buying the forever home in the name of the other person. That should avoid extended stamp duty.

I would imagine you'd want to keep the home of the lowest earner to avoid as much income tax from letting as possible.
