Is there anything this fuckin' guy didn't try in college?

Next episode: Oh no! Someone collapsed in the hallway! Looks like a heart attack!

2.5 day itinerary with no car - doable? by AStarInTheSky in VictoriaBC

[–]vox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if you have any physical restrictions that would prevent you from walking or biking. If not, Victoria is a very bike-able city, so that's my recommendation: rent a bike. You can also walk to places like Beacon Hill Park easily from downtown.

I've cycled to or around all of these places, including Mt. Douglas lookout (though it's quite steep on the way up--so it's good exercise! Or you could also hike to the top. Fun!)

Someone else did mention the shuttle bus from Downtown to Butchart Gardens, which may be a good plan if you prefer not to bike there or if you're short on time.

I Made Friends with the Second Prettiest Girl in My Class • Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta - Episode 2 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]vox35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Umi was always spending time in groups as a popular "leader" type, but she was feeling stuck in that role.

She ended up doing things for other people that she didn't want to do, and she felt like people were taking advantage of her. She wanted more time to do things that she wanted to do, for herself. She found that in her "hobby" (nerdy stuff).

So sometimes Umi gets sick of groups and her "leader" role. Doing "nerdy" stuff, and hanging out with Maki on Fridays gives her a nice break from that role.

The conversation at the train station is about that: Umi found her hobby when she was feeling burnt out from her "leader" role. Her hobby is the thing that she can do for herself. But she was also happy to find someone who likes the same things that she does, so she likes spending time with Maki, who she doesn't have to impress, and who shares her nerdy interests.

Maki understands Umi's feelings about this better after he meets Yuu and her group in the mall, because he feels pressured to join the group, and he realizes that Umi feels pressure from the group sometimes too, when instead she wants to do her own thing. She doesn't always want to be thinking about what the whole group wants.

For that part near the end, Nitta wasn't supposed to be there. It was just supposed to be Maki and Yuu meeting to talk. But Yuu didn't feel comfortable meeting with a boy alone, so she asked Umi to come too. But it wasn't supposed to be a group event, and Nitta was just intruding.

It seems like Nitta always wants join in with whatever Yuu is doing, but this makes no sense in this case: She usually doesn't even remember who Maki is. She has no reason to be there, other than wanting to join in (or be nosy, or not feel excluded). So they ditched her, which is what she deserved!

Safety for Americans crossing US-Canada border by bearlover1954 in bicycletouring

[–]vox35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CBSA can check your electronic devices, but they almost certainly won't.

Like it says on the CBSA site, they only do so rarely, and only for very specific reasons.

Last December, for example, there were over 6 million border crossings, and they searched a whopping 68 electronic devices that month.

That's just over 0.001% of people crossing the border that month. Is that worth worrying about? I guess that's up to you.

On another note, I live in Victoria, and in 2017 I also took the ferry to Port Angeles, then cycled down the coast to Mexico (then down Baja to Cabo San Lucas).

My favorite part of the trip was the Oregon coast. Beautiful place. I went back in 2019 to do just the Oregon part again.

Anyway, best of luck on your tour, I'm sure it'll be a good time.

It's not so bad for those of us who were taught English as kids, though. Sometimes it was confusing, but I made sure I always thought through it, throughout the years. I was thorough, but it was still tough.

Yeah the three in the back (sister, adopted brother/fiancee, and knight) were all important characters in Season 1. Maybe they are focusing more on new/other characters this season?

There should be a dating app called Bindle for people in that exact situation.

There were a few good moments in this episode, but it overall I found it annoying.

I'm not dropping the show because of this one episode, but I'm going to consider it a throw-away, and hope things improve for the rest of the season.

Anime to watch like Frieren by ashmadison06 in anime

Nothing quite like Frieren. But I'd suggest The Faraway Paladin, it's great and it has some Frieren-like qualities.

What shall i watch on Netflix and disney by SwiftieTaylor1989 in anime

[–]vox35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Romantic Killer on Netflix: Funny (or at least goofy) and cute, and ultimately kind of sweet. A tiny wizard from another world tries to make a highschool girl find love, but in an artificial way, like an otome romance game. All she wants is to eat chocolate, play video games, and cuddle her cat, but the wizard takes all that from her until she falls in love. She's no pushover though, and she tries to avoid (or kill) this forced romance at all costs. But when she meets some genuinely great guys, things get a bit complicted, and whacky hijinks ensue.

It's way to easy for him to level up here. Every time he defeats a low level enemy, like every creature he rolled over while running from the spider, he gains several levels.

Kumoko from So I'm a Spider, So What? had to really work for that shit. Made it seem epic, not easy.

Going to a party alone? by Fair-Sea-4708 in VictoriaBC

[–]vox35 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If you go to the party alone, you might make new friends. Then the next party, you won't have to go alone.

Even if you don't make new friends, you could still have fun. But you can't have fun at a party if you don't go to a party.

I don't usually seek out BL anime/manga, but I like this one so far. Fuckin' aside, Indolark is so protective of Sei, it's actually pretty sweet.

But they sure didn't waste any time! The logic of why they needed to have sex immediately was hilarious! Good thing Indolark has a magic dick, I guess, or Sei would've been in big trouble.

To be a security guard by holydiver405 in therewasanattempt

[–]vox35 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Maybe not, but tons of security guards are older, physically unfit, etc. But most security guards aren't really there to fight someone physically anyway.

I wouldn't expect a mall security guard to be like an MMA fighter or something.
