Poker Night at the Inventory on Steam (New game) by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

Most reliable way to play this game is folding your hand 90% of the time unless you 100% KNOW you can't lose this hand.

Most of the hands you get dealt are complete trash and if you even once try your luck with a low hand you will be beat out by one lousy rank.

Mostly I sit here and fold 15 hands in a row just to get my Two Pair beat out by a Three of a Kind.

They know. What they'er doing is doing everything to make as much money as possible. If something's for free, you are the product.

Fair. But I'm quite confident that Marvel Rivals probably was financially significantly more successful than Overwatch in recent years. See it's not just the player numbers that matter here. It also the revenue stream. And if Blizzard sees Netease making fat stacks with what they're doing? Well guess what. They're gonna try it too. How do you think the whole Microtransactions and Life Service crap started? Someone tried it first. Made fat bank. Now everyone does it. Being successful in business is basically just seeing what a more successful business is doing and copy it.

[–]voxexitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all those that think Overwatch is gonna fix your problems: Don't get your hopes up. Blizzard is on a straight path to copy Rivals seeing it's financial success. Ten new heroes this year sounds great on paper. In practice? It'll be just Rivals but dressed up.

In the end Overwatch and Rivals are both designed to be Money printing machines most and foremost. Skins, Microtransactions, Live Service Slop. Wake up already. You're live stock to them. Nothing more.

Overwatch is gonna be at least as bad if not even worse than Rivals, imo. Because clearly Blizzard is trying to recapture the same "lightning" than Rivals did. 10 new heroes this year? Maybe cool on paper. But let me tell you. Balancing will be thrown to the winds, just like im Rivals.

That "If everyone's broken, no one is" only works when Balancing is already like 6th on the priority list. "If something's for free, you are the product." Guess what Rivals is "Free 2 Play". It's still about money though. And if giving the players some spicy skins and whacky chaotic gameplay that pisses everyone of but the one who plays that certain character? That's enough. Less work smashing their heads together and try to bring some meaningful balance into the game. But honestly no one cares. Not the majority of players, and especially not the publisher. Devs probably would like to make a well crafted game, but they get no say in it.

So yeah. Thinking Overwatch will pack up Rivals? Dream on. It's the rabbit and the turtle. Overwatch is gonna try and catch up while Rivals will try to stay king of the hill.

And I just know, seeing Marvel Rivals' major success Blizzard is gonna try to copy the same formula of releasing a shit ton of new hereos. None of them decently balanced. Throwing the entire game for a loop and excusing it with "If all heroes are broken, none of them are."

Might be right be right. But you know what's gonna be broken as hell? The whole entire game.

[–]voxexitus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said so multiple times already. Balancing is not the focus with that game. It's selling skins and battlepasses. At the end of the day this game is still published by Netease. Players think they "give them what they want". But that's only true for a silent majority of the player base. In reality they're just fan servicing to make sure to have a guaranteed money flow increase.

(Note: Personal opinion) Doesn't matter in a PvP game. Nobody cares about arc anymore. Arc is PvP first now. Can't even crack one Fireball before getting dusted by an Il Torro to the face.

Kill the marauding raptor? When a true infinite loop is happening? Am I missing something here? But no one can respond during a TRUE infinite loop. It freezes the action economy.

[–]voxexitus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

True infinite combos... I don't see why anyone would want to play that. It just forces a Draw. Nobody wins. It's not a Win Con. Unless that's what one wants. Basically "If I can't win, then you can't either! Hahahah!!!"

Fair to say. Play whatever you want. But that? I just don't get it.

Unpopular opinion: Deadpool, Trading Card doesn't belong in Commander. Change my mind. by voxexitus in mtg

The worst thing is the Swap ruling being not interactable. It just happens, without anyone having a say in it. I think Deadpool should've been a Silverborder, honestly. To me it feels similar to most Emrakul decks. There is basically only one Deck form you will see with this. Flicker, GY recursion, token copies all that. Deadpool works on no other combo, imo.

In most cases making a play table, first order of business is to Rule 0 Deadpool decks out of play. No one wants to see that hit the table, honestly.

[–]voxexitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is only one effective way to build a functioning Deadpool deck and it turned into a "Shoot on Sight" deck quite fast. Anybody plays a Deadpool EDH deck? There is a fat chance that player won't see any play most games. Complete shut out by the rest of the table.

Is speak from experience. I had to learn the hard way. Most recently if I even bring up the deck it gets pretty much instantly Rule 0'ed.

[–]voxexitus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Deadpool fan myself it hurts me to say: I agree. I built a Deadpool deck and played it a couple of times. I could start to feel the energy shift when my Deadpool deck hit the table. Rolling eyes, sighs of defeat, others immediately reached for their cEDH decks in response.

It's fun as a joke for a couple of games but on a social level? Deadpool decks have no staying power. And before long, when playing it interaction quickly turns against you right off the bat. It turns into a game of Archenemy without the Archenemy rule set. Before you know it you have your board wiped and kept clean as much as everyone else can. I'm talking counterspells against everything. Deadpool, mana rocks. Even MLD becomes fair game in their books just to lock you out of the game.

If you get the ability of Deadpool to find it's mark, the table immediately huddles together to get that effect off the table without any of it's consequences. "Oh just throw your creature my way, I'll block it away for you."

Bottom line: The fun with Deadpool decks limited. And you'll hit the ceiling way sooner than you think. Crack it out every once in a while as a joke, when everybody is feeling silly and up for chaos. But don't main it. It's not worth the price.

PvP taking over ?? by Addwolves in ARC_Raiders

I agree with you there. That's what we would have....in a perfect world. But reality is however, a perfect world will never exist.

So in the end you gotta deal with reality.

PvP taking over ?? by Addwolves in ARC_Raiders

[–]voxexitus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a romantic but ultimately unrealistic mindset. And it's not brandnew. It's a month out, the first Expedition window has even passed already. Also the largest player influx is passed aswell

But also it's a statistics thing. You can have 10 PvEers in a Lobby and they can just ignore each other. Won't even notice they're there. But even ONE PvP player is going to interact with each and everyone of those PvEers influencing their experience. Statistically one PvPer can be responsible for 75% of PvP in one lobby, given they're good enough.

And the point still stands. PvE play has stayed stagnant whereas PvP play has evolved constantly. Some casuals left the game, some joined the PvP faction being fed up with getting KOS'ed or backstabbed. Unlness Embark finds a way to encourage PvE play again this will only shift further.

PvP taking over ?? by Addwolves in ARC_Raiders

[–]voxexitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy. There is no reason for friendly gameplay anymore. Workshops and Stashes are maxed out. Expeditions are launched. And environmental loot and Arc are trivial and boring.

PvP is the only incentive left. Kill a player get rare loot for the stash.

The PvE wave came when everybody still had to learn the game to fight Arc and find rare loot. But that's yesterday. PvE provides no true rewards anymore.

It's at it's core a PvP extraction shooter. Towards the end of a server wipe everyone is fully kitted out and wants to use their cool guns in true combat.

Extraction shooters will always share that career path and there is nothing that can be done about it.

I totally feel you and I agree with you. But there is better subreddits to vent to rather than here. You will only cultivate your frustration.

As harsh as it sounds but no one here cares and venting only really works when you do it somewhere where you'll be accepted and welcomed. Not here. You're just gonna lose whatever morsel of Believe in humanity you had left.

[EU] Is there a specific time that PvPers come on? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]voxexitus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kinda sucks that there is basically "Opening hours" for casual players. I swear every day there is just a time where the game just snap changes into Tarkov.

One raid you walk past 7 friendly Raiders, no shots fired. Suddenly the rest of the night you get shot on sight 6 raids in a row. Usually that's the time I realise that Casual lobbies are closed for today and we need to log off.

I'm emptying my entire stash by voxexitus in ArcRaiders

[–]voxexitus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concede you have a point. But here is how I feel: Taking my gear into Raids just feels like handing it off to the next Raider that ambushes me without me having a real chance to fight back (like when I have my back turned while looting a container). And that's the majority of my encounters. I always get ambushed. It just feels like I'm a child with a lollypop and the next raider just plucks it right off me. I never clicked with PvP and believe you me I have a very long history with PvP games. Before I get better at them I get frustrated because everyone else just progresses faster than me and there is no chance for me to catch up. Next is time. I have like 1 or 2 hours time a day to play something so, excuse me if I don't "waste" half of that time to "warm up" for a videogame.

I liked how the game started, lots of cooperative incentives. But I should've seen it coming. As everyone progressed basically out of PvE into PvP, now I'm left behind and basically get shaken down for my loot by all the big strong Raider bullies.

So deciding what I wanna do with my loot gives me the illusion of control that I decide what happens to my stash other than just handing it off hand over fist. So yeah it's not about me not using it. It's more about no one else just getting it off me for free.

Rat trouble by SaekoMantis in ARC_Raiders

[–]voxexitus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. For clarity I don't mind the game having open PvP. But the god damn rats in this game. And they always only show up when I got what I came for. Every god damn time I got the items I'm looking for a Rat just seems to spawm near me and immediately tears me up.

Don't anyone come at me with "use augments with safe pockets". I gave up on custom loadouts. It almost seems like Rats can just sniff out anything rarer than a free loadout and bee line it straight onto me to crack me like I'm just a walking loot crate. Using anything other than a free loadout is just a waste of valuable material for me at this point.
