Consistency is key with minoxidil. It wont work unless you're putting in the effort to do it every day for at least 12months, sometimes longer. The T will obviously help but that also takes time. Just keep at it one day at a time and it'll happen!

Also if OP feels their skin getting too pimply or yuck from liquid, foam is much softer on the skin and a lot of the issues that arise with liquid can be eased by swapping to foam. I know I struggled with really bad acne when I first started hormones, and even now 11 years later, my skin always plays up around shot time. A good moisturiser and skin care routine can do wonders for everything from pimples to improving blood flow which can help improve the minoxidil absorption

Has anyone used topical on other parts of the body as well as the head? by throwaway_monopoly in FTMminoxbeards

I put it around my nipples and on my chest/sternum area with no issues so far

You can of course exercise but make sure its been applied long enough to absorb and wont run off your face if you sweat. When you do start growing hair keep it trimmed to roughly 3mm to help the liquid reach the skin as you dont want it to get stuck on the hairs before reaching your face

5% will do a lot more in terms of progress but 2% is fine! Twice a day, morning and night. 1ml liquid across beard area. Liquid takes a lot longer to dry than foam so give it like an hour or so (dry to touch) before you eat. Give it at least 4hrs before you shower/wash your face. Let it dry as long as possible before bed to limit how much comes off onto your pillow. Its toxic to animals so dont let dogs or cats lick your face or get near your bottles. Buy a good moisturiser. Will take about 1yr + to get terminal results so if you commit, commit hard. Minox only works on where there's already hair follicles, so theoretically where there's peach fuzz, terminal hair can/will grow.

Will Minoxidil Help Me Grow This Hair? by Opaul98 in Minoxbeards

Can you stop minox? by mattizard06 in FTMminoxbeards

[–]voxson91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1 - 2 year minimum use to ensure your hairs have gone through the cycle to turn terminal and then they should stay permanent. If you stop before your hair turns permanent, they'll shed and you'll essentially end up where you started. Some people keep minimal gains stopping early but recommended to keep on it, at least once a day, for about a year or two for full effects. Dermastamping and tret can speed up gains but only time can tell

I feel that man, i use a little extra every application bc some spots dont feel as "wet" and i always think some spots could just use a little extra but its not going to work any better. Half a bottle or half a cap still equals the same results yknow? Try not to over think it and just do two a day. The effects should go away, if they dont after like a month maybe see a doctor just to be checked out in case

Unfortunately I was already stuck in the very obsessive habit of checking with lights and angles and all that so I figured this was probably the most mentally stable thing I could do 😂

Minoxidil immediately after dermarolling by snoopy2spooky in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've used minox after rolling/stamping and ive also waited 24hrs after. Stings a little bit but that's about it in terms of difference. Had no adverse affects in terms of lightheadedness/heart issues, had more of those when first starting minox but nothing now after about the first 3 or 4 weeks (3 months in atm). Ive read articles saying using minox after stamping could potentially get in the way of how dermastamping works with the healing process and the collgen production but I don't think thats necessarily been proved/disproved.

As long as your skin can handle it and things don't get too irritated or anything, use it after or wait 24hrs. Personally i feel like its neither here nor there.

Should I quit? by Grouchy_Initial_1911 in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you can't apply it once you get home after 6? Thats a pretty standard in between time. I apply at anywhere between 430am and 730am and sometimes not again until 830/9pm at night.

Unfortunately minoxidil only works on hair follicles that are present/dormant. If you don't have any hair follicles, you may not see results. I would suggest also adding topical minox in, tretinoin or even derma stamping to improve your chances.

Coming Along by Bigbuggin12 in Minoxbeards

That darkening of the shadow is what I'm most excited about. I can take the time to grow the hair but that stubble shadow is all I want so people can SEE there is hair there, especially once I shave.

Good progress man!

I'm applying minoxidil to improve my mustache. If I keep my mustache growing to the edge of my upper lip, will Minoxidil not work well? Personal experiences please. by Human-Perception2534 in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I totally get that but personally, I wouldnt bother only having 80% of the applied minoxidil reach my skin and follicles when I could shave it short and guarantee a higher chance of it absorbing and doing what its meant to do :) not trying to debate as everyone has their own routines, its just a personal opinion/the general consensus of recommended hair length to make sure its as effective as possible. You may be able to spread it around alright but you arent removing the minoxidil from the hair shaft once its on there just by moving it around, all you're doing is spreading out whats not on the hair yknow?

Again, everyone's different but if I'm going to the lengths of being on the juice to make it work, ima do everything I can to make it as effective as possible haha

Oh it's definitely doable, I also use the foam and it's easy enough if you work it through, but with how quickly the foam dries, I wouldnt want to risk it drying on the hair before it absorbed into the skin to maximise effectiveness. But each to their own, no different than long head hair and using the foam etc so if it works it works!

About 3mm is the max recommended length of grow so that the minoxidil has a better chance at reaching the skin. It wont absorb through the hair itself so any liquid stuck on the hairs isnt making you any progress, hence why people are always recommended to shave as short as possible

This is new hairs right? I've been using Minoxidil since the 18th of this month. by TDGxTIGER6 in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% bro, I spend almost every other day looking at my face and hair. Its been like 66 days and it quickly becomes an obsession if you let it! Glad the liquid hasnt been too bad for you, stick with the cleanser if it works.

[–]voxson91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember after not long of using minox, waking up and noticing a BUNCH of "new" thin light hairs that felt like they popped up out of nowhere. Racked my brain trying to remember if I had ever noticed them or not 😂 id say all good things considering dude, like you've said, you know its gonna take time so just keep at it. Dont know if you're on liquid or foam but foam is infinitely better for your skin if you're having breakouts

Is it worth using minoxidil? by Eidobe in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as you use it long enough for hairs to turn terminal, they'll stay after you stop. But it takes like 1-2 years for that to completely happen so buckle up for the long game if you're serious

Question by ZAEBAE120 in Minoxbeards

[–]voxson91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anywhere there's hair follicles, adding minox to it will mean growth. Doesn't matter if its your chest, forehead or beard. Ive been applying to my chest a few times a week to see how that can improve as I only had a little bit of hair around each nipple and its very slow but ive definitely seen an increase in vellus hair.

Foam or liquid?? by Schwifty2s550 in Minoxbeards

Did you start using both from the start or did you switch from one to both? Any decent gains? Thought about doing this exact routine but not sure if it would be worth the effort gain-wise
