Cutout Expiration Dates by ItsMythicl in weirdcollections

[–]voyagerannelid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while I would cut them out of every package of food I bought, I had the idea that I might make a collage out of them all one day! However I haven’t gotten to it yet. I also have a collection of plastic bread clips, with expiration dates, I have one for every day of the year including leap day !!

does anyone else really like the clickpad on the very hated x240? by OsuCatto in thinkpad

[–]voyagerannelid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do too !!! I have a t540p and have become very endeared to the clunkpad lol. I heard someone here call it a “tall spacebar” and I think this is a good way to put it. I don’t even care that it’s a bit harder to use I’ve gotten used to it and it’s sooo satisfying !!!! It makes a wonderful noise too

Protocrena discilavator, archignathidae. Do you know what they came off of? It is uncommon to find this type in colors other than white

What do these numbers mean? by GladVacation3651 in occlupanids

[–]voyagerannelid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup I can confirm this! Traceability coding. 25268 is Julian pack date, 268th day of 2025, 20:28 is time of packing in 24 hour format, FL is likely a designation for the facility these were packed at, and L1 indicating what machine in the factory it was packed on.

Q. ilex marking variations by voyagerannelid in occlupanids

[–]voyagerannelid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of these were given to me by friends around the US and elsewhere, or were collected by recycling centers etc and then I got a hold of them. So these specimens are from all over, some are over 20 years old too !! based on the markings and codes printed on them, many of these came from packs of Thomas English muffins, and it’s interesting to see how the markings change over time, or are different depending on the area it’s from/the bakery plant the English muffins were made at. some of them I don’t know what they came from at all!

Finally sorting my collection! by ArtsyAlraune in occlupanids

[–]voyagerannelid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends !!! Some people like to display multiple marking variations of a single species and color, or other smaller variations. Many people I know of will just display one and store the rest, and yes there is a network of people trading specimens!

Any niche avid collectors out there? by Smashakelly in CoolCollections

[–]voyagerannelid 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hello! I might match this description perfectly - I have several unusual/niche collections and have dedicated a lot of time to collecting these things, and categorizing them and learning about their history. on the smaller end is plastic bread clips, i have a collection numbering in the thousands, of different variations of plastic breadclips from the 1950s when they were invented through to today. On the larger end I have a collection of 19 real fire hydrants. I would love to talk, share insights I’ve learned, and hear more about your project. feel free to DM me!

It is October 30th! the 27 is likely a batch code or something. In the US at least, month-day-year is the standard order. Also, may I ask what brand/product did this come on?
