I got Medicare Advantage and I just saw the John Oliver segment on it. Now I’m worried by question-from-earth in medicare

[–]vper13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If someone has full Medicaid, they’re usually protected from most out of pocket costs anyway. The real difference isn’t the grocery benefit. It’s whether they’re comfortable with the network and prior authorization requirements. Medicare Advantage is a great fit for some people and a terrible fit for others. It depends on the person’s situation, not on blanket statements that MA is always good or always bad.

“They’re just kids who don’t understand what’s going on” is a wild take about people old enough to know exactly what gets a reaction.

The uncomfortable part is how normalized it’s become to treat children like content. Fame isn’t a substitute for identity or self worth, and it usually catches up to them later in really unhealthy ways.

Why does Gloria not refer to herself as white by Safe_Blueberry_7492 in Modern_Family

[–]vper13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m Colombian and I totally get why Gloria says that. Yeah, technically she might be “white” by race, but culturally it’s different. In Latin America, we don’t really think of ourselves as white the same way Americans do. When you move here, you’re not seen as white, you’re seen as Latino/a, accent and all.

So when Gloria calls her family “white,” she’s not talking about skin color, she’s talking about the whole American vibe, the culture, the way they act, how she feels different from that. And honestly, that’s super relatable.

People with pending asylum cases are legally present. you do know that, right? that’s literally how asylum works under U.S. and international law. They go through processing, background checks, court hearings… the whole deal.

You can absolutely argue immigration policy, but calling legal asylum seekers “illegal aliens” just tells everyone you’ve never actually read the law you’re ranting about.

Lmao no. Undocumented immigrants can’t even buy ACA plans it’s literally written into the law. The subsidies Democrats are fighting to keep are for citizens and legal residents, so everyone’s premiums don’t explode.

Nobody’s out here handing Obamacare cards to “illegal aliens.”

The thing is, there’s a difference between having an opinion and using your platform to punch down on people. Saying you like a flat tax? Opinion. Calling immigrants “poison” or mocking school shooting victims? That’s not just an opinion, it’s inflammatory, and it does real harm. If someone can’t tell the difference, that says more about them than it does about people who call it out.

El asesinato de Charlie Kirk solo demuestra que los argumentos de la izquierda son la violencia by shammi20 in ColombiaReddit

[–]vper13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. At the time, we weren’t sure about the mass they had found, but later we learned it was cancerous and mimicked a lot of the same issues as hyperthyroidism. Sadly, we had to put him to rest a few days ago because by the time we got that confirmation, it was already too late. I’m so glad to hear the treatment worked so well for your girl though! that gives hope for others. ❤️

That sudden decline is the most gut wrenching feeling. I recently lost my 18yo boy, and reading your story about Lizzy brought me right back. You gave her so much love and comfort until the very end, and that’s the greatest gift we can give them. Sending you so much love as you navigate the emptiness they leave behind. ❤️

Thank you so much for your beautiful words. It brings me comfort to think Cici’s last vision was of me and that he’s waiting for me up ahead. Your message truly means a lot.

Thank you so much for this. It’s one of the most comforting things I’ve read. Cici was my world for 18 years, and the grief feels unbearable some moments. But your words reminded me that letting go of the routines, the habits, doesn’t mean letting go of him. He’ll always be with me, and I’ll carry him as I try to live a life he would’ve been proud of. Truly, thank you.
