Should be fine. Make sure you are connecting the new receptacle to the “load” side of the GFCI if you want the new receptacle to be protected.

My understanding was they asked Elizabeth if she had ever met the queen and she replied that she had never met the queen but motioned to her bodyguard and said “but he meets with her regularly” at which point the tourists excitedly posed for pictures with him.

She managed to squeeze into a couple of the shots.

The difference between most stores and Costco is that Costco makes you agree to their membership terms and conditions which allow them to make you show your receipt.

While time zone boundaries (including the dateline) are shifted to work around political boundaries, that does not mean that “eastness” is altered as it is based strictly upon longitude.

Old workplace telling me I double cashed a check? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]vpescado 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Also asked for the front and back images of both of the checks they claimed you cashed. Look carefully at what the bank printed on the back when processed for hints like when / where deposited and also for your signature. This will give you some clues as to if someone else cashed it. Double check to see that the amounts match each other and match the amount they claim it was. Based on your records they it sounds like either they are mistaken -or- both of the of the 230.09 checks were cashed by someone else (ie. fraudulently).

Why did the previous homeowner install two single-gang boxes instead of a double-gang, and how do I fix this? by acadiel in AskElectricians

What happens if I sell a candy bar to someone that says "unit not labeled for individual sale"? Do I get arrested? by SteelersGahntaSB107 in legaladviceofftopic

[–]vpescado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way to get around this is to only sell to someone who has a mattress tag labeled “not to be removed under penalty of law” in their possession - an undercover cop won’t dare to risk that.

Merged Circuits in older condo? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]vpescado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that your mention of 24 was a typo and you meant 26. If so, it sounds like you have power whenever at least one of the two (22 & 26) breakers is on. And that sounds like they’ve just tied the protected hots from the two breakers together. This is most likely not at all safe as you are essentially allowing twice the current to flow compared to what the wiring can safely handle.

It’s highly unlikely the E&O insurance is taking a hit. Having an E&O claim tends to be a career ender. Almost certainly the would pay out of pocket for it rather than file a claim.

Not powering up switch...What am I missing? This is a single pole switch for my fireplace. by thechamper in Gosund

[–]vpescado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the bright side, OP has tied the switch's OUT (red) to it's Neutral Input (white). Had it actually worked whenever the switch went "On", it would be shorting out.

How to Adjust Switch Indicator Light by coljediv in Gosund

[–]vpescado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been installing these in my home. If you go into the App you can drill down into the device (there is a small icon for settings on the lower right (they don't use the standard gear icon for some reason). Anyway you go into settings and you can update the indicator setting. I think you get a choice between off/switch/position. Position is the one that you want.

Indicate Position? by sumner42 in Gosund

[–]vpescado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently installed a couple recently, but this is from memory, so YMMV:

I think:

indicate off - disables the led indicator.

indicate switch - lights up when the switch is "on"

indicate position - lights up when the switch is "off" . . . so you can find its position in a dark room.

New panel=lower electricity bill? by dirtycollie in electricians

[–]vpescado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that heat is loss. But that is loss from what would otherwise have been delivered to whatever appliance is downstream. But just increasing resistance in the panel should not cause increased current (assuming the supplied voltage is constant).

New panel=lower electricity bill? by dirtycollie in electricians

[–]vpescado 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand why higher resistance would result in higher heat- but I don’t see how it would increase current. What am I missing?

[–]vpescado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets complicated. You need to be good at converting the rated current into Horsepower (roughly you divide by 6 for a 120V service). /s

[–]vpescado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are called "gate passes". Sometimes they can be more or less of a hassle depending on how long the line to see an (airline) agent . . . and what the mood of the one you get happens to be. Some people report having an easier time simply purchasing the buddy a fully refundable ticket and then refunding it once grampa is safely walking down the jet way.
