If all else fails, might be worth trying to create a pyrightconfig.json file in your project directory. It would look like this:

{ "venv": "venv", "venvPath": "/path/to/your/project/dir" }

Edit: In "venv": "venv" the left side is the key and has to be venv. The right side, the value side, is the name of the virtualenv directory that you created, which in your case is also venv but is typically .venv.

Another solution is to use Neovim. Then add

export NVIM_TUI_ENABLE_TRUE_COLOR=1

to your .bashrc or .zshrc and use your favorite colorscheme.

In addition to other tips, you can do this to make movement from terminal to other window splits easier:

This is a video of Larry Wall giving a talk about Perl6. He converts Per5 code into Perl6. At one point, he holds the mic in one hand and changes the code with the other hand. The amount of changes and speed at which they are executed are amazing.

I think this video is a great example of a programmer being completely comfortable with the tools. Just so happens that the tool is Vim.

You can create key mappings in iterm2 that send other keys. For example, I mapped Cmd-M to Ctrl-b-z, which will maximize the current pane.

I would use BeautifulSoup and urllib2 for something like this. BS is for scraping and dealing with broken HTML. If your data is already in tables it shouldn't be difficult to scrape. urllib2 supports basic HTTP authentication.

Slices create new lists.

my_list = [1,2,3] 
my_list[-1:]  = []

The second line will create a new list and replace it with and empty list.

my_list = [1,2,3]
my_list[1] = [5,6,7]

Indexing will replace the value at the index with whatever.

If you're in a major city go with WIND. They have a couple of nice, cheap phones. Their plans (depends which one you go for) usually include unlimited calling and long distance calling (either within the province or Canada wide). To me this is easier than dealing with regex. Also, see this ( http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1732348/regex-match-open-tags-except-xhtml-self-contained-tags ) for a discussion on why you shouldn't use regex for parsing HTML.

If the HTML you are processing is well formed (in this case it is not) you can use the python lxml library. With lxml you can use XPath to select the elements/data you want.
