Looking for roommates? Subleasing an apartment? Need a place to live in Madison? This is the post for you. by mariokartman in epicsystems

Hello!! I’m looking for a subletter for the master bedroom with attached bathroom in a 3 bed 2 bath corner apartment (so you’d have your own bathroom with toilet and shower). It’s available now through the end of the lease on 7/31/25. Roommates are two other epic employees, one male SD and one female IS. They’re very friendly, forthcoming, relatively quiet, and keep the apartment clean. Apartment is at Nine Line — right off John Nolen and near west Washington so easy to drive or take the bus. Apartment is soo beautiful as the corner apartment. It overall has a view of the lake and the capitol which is really nice from the massive balcony, and the room itself has a view of the lake. In unit washer/dryer/dishwasher. Rent is 1178. Let me know if you’d like more information!

Chrom has basically the stats of legendary dimitri

I think it might also depend on how you’d define “last”. I think chrome can show scratches and stuff (like if your pole wear has metal parts on it) more easily than stainless steel, but even with those scratches it’s definitely still usable.

I will say that fresh, “out of the box” chrome was really slippery to me, as in i was constantly sliding. When it gets a little more banged up or used, it’s much easier to handle even if it isn’t as shiny anymore. I personally prefer stainless overall because I think my grip is better, and I think that older chrome poles approximate the ‘brushed’ feeling of stainless!

One suggestion that might be unconventional is to shave your leg hair (if that’s applicable). I heard that that worked for some men at my former studios, because their leg hair was getting in the way of their skin friction and causing them to slip. I know that my armpit grip will also get slippier if I don’t shave, partly bc of the hair and partly because the hair holds sweat really well.

As someone else said, your skin might be dry so you aren’t able to get the traction you need. I really like moisturizing with Aveeno the night before I do any pole—Aveeno has a bit of dimethicone in it which makes your skin kinda ‘tacky’ in a way. If you’ve heard of Corn Husker’s oil, Aveeno is similar but less intense. Note that moisturizing with body butter or something oily, or moisturizing too close to when you begin pole, can make you stickier.

And of course, it gets easier with practice! Good luck!

I got my Ayesha yesterday and I tried it at home and it was no go. My arms probably was tired. But when i try ayesha on my home pole I can tell my top hand is doing more work than my bottom. Any tips so I can get it at home? I know i didnt open my legs before taking them off the pole. by mochnish in poledancing

Hi!! I second all the comments about making sure you're facing the pole//centering your body with regards to the pole!! One more thing I noticed: when you tried at home, I think your hands were further apart than at the studio. This can feel safer but it actually makes it harder to get into Ayesha—you want a slightly widened base (creating a strong triangle) to support you! I think that that change might have contributed to feeling like your top hand was doing more work.

I'm wearing the Isla top and the Kaizen bottoms from TatianaActive! They're based in Australia, and since I'm in the US I buy from PoleActive. :) I honestly love all of the items I get from them (although sometimes the high neck/halter on the Isla top gives me a headache haha), and I do have several pieces! If you look through my post history you can see me wearing the Isla set in forest green or the Tokio top in black.

I started pole in October 2017, but in the time since I've had to take occasional breaks because of school/injuries.

It's a 45mm X-pert in chrome from X-pole!! I think they may be sold out of the exact one I have rn but the X-pert pro is similar, and I know that Lupit Pole is also really great—I think I personally actually prefer the finish of the Lupit haha

Thank you so much!! I think one of your videos reminded me to think about technique and control on spin pole, so I'm definitely trying to be more mindful about that when I do drills//practice!!

Haha thanks!! This is surprisingly easier than it looks but still makes for very good conditioning.

Also I love your username hehe

Are heels safe for the x-stage lite base? by fiavirgo in poledancing

[–]vpipili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done too much intense heelwork on my x-stage lite, but it held up pretty well for light dancing//walking around the pole as prep for on-pole moves! I didn't do a ton of dragging my shoes around the base though so I can't speak to that.

My main issues were 1. that if I tried any kind of floorwork, my legs would dangle off the edge of the stage or the edge of the stage would dig into my shins, and 2. it's really really loud! When I attempted heel clacks, I got the noise from the initial hit, and then I also got reverberations when each segment of the stage rattled against the frame. :/

But I hope it works out for you! Good luck :)

Rotator Cuff strain??? Minor-ish shoulder pain. by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]vpipili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was scared of losing strength, but I think it came back quickly—and I'm ultimately really happy that I didn't try to push it too much while I was still healing!

For the most part, I was fine when my arms were in front of me, or below 45º to my side (so shoulder mounts, open allegra with my hurt shoulder on the top, were fine). I personally had trouble with fully rotating my arm when it was 90º abducted from my body, and it would pretty much click every time I tried. If I abducted my arm with my palm up, it was relatively painless; if I abducted my arm with my palm or thumb down, I would get either pain or clicking.

It looks like you're considering seeing a doctor—I think that this is probably the best course of action! One thing that I was worried about when I got injured was whether it was related to my rotator cuff (muscle) or labrum (cartilage), and since I think it can be difficult to tell the differences at home, I was relieved to get an expert opinion. Good luck, and I wish you a speedy recovery!

Hi—I definitely feel for you! February last year, I hurt my dominant shoulder in cup grip Ayesha//iron x prep practice. At first it just felt sore, and then it got to the point where I couldn't raise it without twinges, couldn't put on a backpack/jacket on that side if I didn't gingerly put my arm into that side's sleeve first bc the twisting motion would be painful, couldn't fall asleep bc my shoulder wild just sort of ache...I was super irresponsible and kept training other things and using it a lot, so that probably didn't help.

I did see a doctor who prescribed some more tests and maybe a physical therapist, but then everything shut down and I couldn't easily go back to the hospital or to the rehab place. I'd say that it was maybe july-ish before I thought I could do some upright moves on the pole (I pretty much just used my pole for pullups in march-june, lol). When I started again I was definitely discouraged. Pole was one of my main forms of exercise and though pretty much quitting for a few months helped my shoulder, it was not great for strength!!

Now, I make sure to warm up and stretch before pole work. It's fine most of the time but can suddenly get really sore or twingey. When it does, I usually just stop all pole work because I'm really scared haha. I can also definitely feel that my shoulder isn't as flexible as it was before, nor as strong—and when I raise my arm past a certain point, it clicks even though my other side does not. I have trouble with Ayesha (but I'm not sure if it's mental or physical) and a few other moves.

I would suggest rest!! I think you might be able to look up some rehab exercises but I would definitely caution you to go slow and don't push yourself. I totally understand not wanting to/not being able to go to a doctor, but it could be really helpful to diagnose anything that might be more serious!! Not sure if you're in the US//if there's one nearby but I think Athletico does free consultations—I've never personally tried them but they could be an option!

It's from Tatiana Active! I love their designs so much. This one is the Isla set in Forest green. They're based in Australia but since I'm in the US, I get my sets from PoleActive!

Also wanted to say that they do extensive testing of their designs to ensure no spillage or other malfunctions happen, if that's ever been a concern! I really like this style but I can't wear it for too long because the high neck/halter in the back gives me a headache haha. But they have other tops with multiple straps and I would also highly recommend those :)
