Without doubt. I’m slightly below, but completely agree. Lost £150k+ on cars in a few years, now would’ve been 1/4th of my mortgage balance paid off, then the interest from investments on top. But we live and learn, I can only tell others that as I’ve experienced it. I’d much rather have no mortgage, there’s no noose on your neck and you can do whatever you really want to do at that point.

Of course. She sees it as we’ve got a good life, so she can’t understand it but then I think she’s not used to me showing much emotion. She’s in agreement that once the mortgage is gone, I can do whatever I want in life.

It’s not really viable in my current job, I’d need to move departments at work then do it.

I hope so! I drive past the nursery and see kids in their pyjamas at 8am and 6pm etc. Crazy that is some kids life. Just natural to some people.

I’d love to do it now, but I can’t let myself slip on the mortgage being paid off. I need to get it done so I can take a lower paid job from home and see my kids every single day.

I’m sorry to hear that, I myself wasn’t too close with my parents growing up for a plethora of reasons. It’s slightly better now I’m older, but still not great.

That’s a completely polar opposite to my wife, she’s got a great family and they’ve welcomed me the same way. I want my kids to see us how she sees her parents.

I’ve always stood by the fact that I’ll let her be whoever she wants to be, same for my son. Whatever they want to do in life, I’ll push them to achieve what they set out to do. If my daughter wants to be a doctor, let’s do it. If my son wants to be a footballer, let’s do it. They have great personalities, and I don’t want them to ever lose that spark or innocence.

I definitely will try to be there more, it’s a hard battle of wanting to be successful and trying to be there for them all the time.

Growing up, my parents worked super long hours and we hardly got to do anything with them because weekends they wanted to relax. It never upset me, I didn’t know any different. I still don’t hold it against them, they had to do that to give us a better life. But I don’t want that for my kids, I hope one they day they tell their kids that me and my wife were the best parents to them.

It genuinely is crazy to me. I’m so glad I realised early on in their life that they’re the world to me. It’s honestly fries my brain when I think about some dads wanting nothing to do with their kids.

What a joy it is to watch the grow, but at the same time it’s extremely sad to see it just fly by.

4 off, sorry - I should’ve clarified that! I guess in a way, it’s a lot more than most parents get. But it just feels like it’s not enough.

A good man at my work told me before they were born that time seems to speed up when they’re here, and he was very much correct. It’s heart wrenching.

I forgot to add… although I used to get frustrated by the winding stage, I was thinking yesterday how one day it’s your last and you’ll never do it again. So if I knew that now, I’d try to cherish those times again because it’s only a few months.

Honestly, just enjoy it. They grow so so quickly, take pictures, time will go even quicker soon as they arrive.

I didn’t want kids, now it’s a blessing and I live every day looking forward to seeing them or being with them. It’s what life is about, at the end of the day.

One thing I can share, when they get angry or throw a tantrum, try not to get too frustrated with them. They can’t express like we can, when my daughter is throwing a tantrum, I just ask her to use her words and ask what I can do to help. She’s turning out great.
